00:00 Hello, I am Emma May here with your top five news stories in Bristol this week.
00:08 As always, it has been a busy week for the city of Bristol.
00:11 Our first story is an exciting one.
00:13 St Bernadette's Boys Rugby Football Club has moved from its home in Hengrove Park so that
00:19 the council can build around 1,500 new homes.
00:23 But they will be moving to a new multi-million pound site in Harkliff, offering state-of-the-art
00:29 facilities for the club.
00:30 The new site is due to open in the first part of next year, with the hope St Bernadette's
00:35 will be playing on the ground by March.
00:39 Last week the developers launched the site with a free community barbecue, allowing residents
00:44 to ask any questions and take advantage of the low-priced sports shop.
00:51 Our second story is the impact of the Lionesses has surpassed the pitch for the city of Bristol.
00:58 Clubs around the city have been celebrating the success of the women's football.
01:04 One of these clubs is the Number One Football Academy, who have been encouraging girls to
01:10 play the sport for many years.
01:12 Run by ex-professional football player Michael Meeker at the David Lloyd Westbury on Trim
01:17 site, young girls have been training in full force, all while celebrating the Lionesses'
01:23 success.
01:24 Our third story this week is Wapping Wharf traders will be offering deals and offers
01:30 to celebrate the long-awaited reopening of the Goulferry Bridge.
01:34 The bridge is the main route from Bedminster and Southville into central Bristol for pedestrians
01:40 and cyclists, and its lengthy closure for repairs has had a huge impact on Wapping Wharf's
01:46 bars, restaurants and shops.
01:48 To mark the occasion, they'll be throwing a party to celebrate on Friday September 8th
01:53 at 5pm.
01:54 There will also be live music from local brass band, The Ambling Band.
01:59 Our fourth story this week is plans are well underway for Bristol's Forwards Festival.
02:05 The festival for forward thinkers will see two days of music and discussion.
02:10 Festival goers are given a space for discussion and debate.
02:14 The information featuring a host of experts, disruptors, creatives, writers and thinkers.
02:21 The information is the conversation stage at Forwards Festival.
02:25 And finally, many local public transport users have been shocked at the recent increase in
02:31 the price of a train fare.
02:33 Since March, regulator ticket prices have increased by 5.9%, adding hundreds of pounds
02:39 to the cost of many annual season tickets.
02:43 It is the highest fare raise since 2012, when prices rose by 6%.
02:48 In previous years, regulated fare rises have linked to the Retail Price Index measure of
02:53 inflation for the previous July.
02:56 That's you up to date with your top five news stories in Bristol this week.
03:00 Whatever you are doing this weekend, I hope you have a great one.
