00:05 I'll tell you, if I were in the United States, I would be going to the Basilica of the National

00:11 Shrine of the Immaculate Conception in Washington, D.C., for an astonishing event, the Dominican

00:18 Rosary Pilgrimage, which is being sponsored by the Dominican Friars of the province of

00:23 St. Joseph, which is also my province.

00:26 It's a day of prayer, it's a day of worship, it's a day of community, it's a day of reveling

00:33 in the many graces that come uniquely through the great mystery and gift of the Holy Rosary.

00:40 Pope St. John Paul II wrote a beautiful letter about the Rosary, and he said, "Of all the

00:44 many benefits, two that stand out to me is that it's through the Rosary that Christ shapes

00:52 our existence."

00:53 And I don't know about you, but I need my existence shaped a lot, and I have trouble

00:57 doing that, but the Rosary really helps to do that.

01:01 And to pray the Rosary with thousands of people who are expected to attend, what a tremendous

01:07 honor and privilege and unique opportunity, an encounter like we rarely have a chance

01:14 to participate in.

01:15 And he says also that it's through the Rosary that we're given an increasing knowledge

01:23 of Jesus Christ, united with the Blessed Virgin Mary, who brings us, taking us by the hand,

01:30 if you will, through all the saving events of Jesus' life that are recounted in the Gospel.

01:35 Because the Rosary is like a living Gospel, and when we pray it, we're brought into a

01:39 great integration of saving events, of union with holy people, and with an awareness of

01:46 the Holy Spirit moving us and working in our life to make all things new.
