A 38-year-old former clerical assistant of the Melaka Islamic Religious Department (JAIM) was charged at the Melaka Sessions Court on Wednesday (Aug 30) with four counts of cheating involving about RM154,000 relating to emoluments.

00:23 that receipts for the reimbursement of allowances paid owing due to their resignations between
00:29 December 1, 2016 and November 30, 2018 were genuine.
00:35 He allegedly committed the offence between November 8, 2017 and July 19, 2018 at the
00:41 Religious Department's Human Resources Section in Melaka Tengah District.
00:47 The charges were framed under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating, which provides
00:51 for a jail term of between one and ten years and whipping upon conviction.
00:57 Judge Elsa Batbaya won granted bail of RM10,000 and ordered the accused to report to the MACC
01:03 office every month until the disposal of the case.
