00:00 Earlier in this month, there was an outbreak of communal violence in Haryana's New District
00:04 during a procession organized by Vishwa Hindu Parishad. The violence resulted in the unfortunate
00:09 deaths of two home guards and numerous officers, sustaining injuries. On the 13th of August,
00:15 the Sarva Jatiya Hindu Mahapanchayat called for the resumption of the Brij Mandal Shobha Yatra
00:20 in New, initially disrupted due to the July district violence.
00:27 On Monday, the Haryana Police apprehended Viresh Chandaliya, the leader of Vishwa Hindu Takht,
00:32 just moments before he departed for New District to participate in Jal Abhishek Yatra. According
00:37 to SP Jashandeep Singh Randhawa, Chandaliya has been placed under house arrest at his residence
00:43 in Sector 1. Amidst these developments, Haryana has been placed on high alert with extensive
00:48 security measures in effect. This comes after the Sarva Jatiya Hindu Mahapanchayat called for a
00:53 Shobha Yatra in New District on Monday, despite CM Manoharlal Khattar's denial of permission for
00:59 the procession. In response to these events, CM Manoharlal Khattar emphasized that given the
01:05 recent violence in New, the government must take stringent action to uphold law and order.
01:10 The authorities have decided that instead of holding a procession,
01:13 individuals should visit nearby temples for prayers. CM Khattar clarified that while the
01:19 government has not granted permission for the Shobha Yatra, people are free to worship in
01:23 the temples. He suggested that people offer prayers at local Shiv temples considering the
01:29 communal clash in the district just a month prior. Expressing dissent, Chandaliya criticized
01:34 CM Khattar for denying the Yatra, asserting that they don't require permission to visit a temple.
01:40 Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, Dhirendra Khadgata, the Deputy Commissioner of New,
01:44 declared the imposition of Section 144 and the suspension of internet service
01:49 in the district from August 27, 12 am to August 29, 12 am. This step was taken to
01:54 ensure the safety of residents and maintain law and order. Alongside the suspension of
01:59 mobile internet, bulk SMS services were also halted under August 28. The administration's
02:05 concern was that these services could potentially be misused to rally groups, resulting in violence
02:11 and property damage. To address the situation effectively, Director General of Police,
02:15 Shatrujit Kapoor, led a video conference with senior officers from neighbouring states. The
02:20 aim was to devise a coordinated strategy for maintaining the situation. The meeting included
02:25 senior police officials from Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan and the Union Territory of
02:30 Chandigarh. Accusing the Congress Party, Haryana Home Minister Anil Vech attributed the communal
02:34 violence in New district on July 31 to their orchestration. During the ongoing monsoon session
02:40 of the Haryana Assembly, which noted that the investigation and the arrest of 50 individuals
02:45 pointed towards the Congress Party's involvement. However, Assembly Speaker Gyan Chand Gupta
02:50 declined to discuss the new issue in the house, citing ongoing legal proceedings.
02:54 Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda urged for a discussion on the new violence
02:59 and the associated conspiracy, separate from the matter of demolished houses that is currently
03:04 under legal scrutiny. That's all on the news report. Stay tuned with HW News English.
