00:00 Halle Berry and Olivier Martinez have finally finalized their divorce.
00:03 The former couple, who split in 2015, have come to a divorce and custody settlement,
00:08 according to court documents obtained by NBC News. For the docs, which were filed in Los Angeles
00:12 Superior Court on August 22, Halle and Olivier share joint legal and physical custody of their
00:17 nine-year-old son, Maceo. The "Moonfall" actress will also pay $8,000 a month in child support to
00:22 Olivier for Maceo, and pay her ex 4.3% of any income she receives over $2 million as additional
00:28 child support. Halle will also pay for Maceo's private school tuition and extracurricular
00:32 activities, as well as health insurance and any other medical expenses. The finalization of Halle
00:37 and Olivier's agreement comes nearly eight years after they announced they were parting ways after
00:40 two years of marriage. They told Access Hollywood in a joint statement at the time, "It is with a
00:44 heavy heart that we have come to the decision to divorce. We move forward with love and respect for
00:48 one another and the shared focus for what is best for our son. We wish each other nothing but
00:53 happiness in life, and we hope that you respect our, and most importantly our children's, privacy
00:57 as we go through this difficult period." In the years since, Halle has put the focus on her career
01:01 and raising Maceo, as well as her daughter Nala, whom she shares with ex Gabriel Aubrey. Plus,
01:06 she's also found love again with singer Van Hunt. Back in 2021, Halle told Access Hollywood about
01:11 her current chapter of life and who she is now. "Knowing everything that's happened in your life
01:15 so far, who would you say Halle Berry is right now?" "Who Halle Berry is right now? Halle Berry,
01:21 I think, that's funny I said Halle Berry. I think I'm finally feeling fully realized
01:28 in this life, you know, I'm finally really feeling satisfied. I have my two children
01:35 that are doing well. I finally have a real solid love in my life. I feel like this is,
01:40 finally figured that out. I've taken on my directorial debut when I didn't think I could
01:46 and I ended up doing it. So I feel really, really, finally, completely realized in life."
01:53 Halle's directorial debut was the 2021 Netflix film, Bruised. She told Access all about the
01:58 project and what inspired her to take the director's chair. "When did you finally realize
02:03 after meeting with a dozen filmmakers that you needed to be the one behind the lens?" "I think
02:08 that moment hit me when I realized that nobody could see what was inside of my head because
02:15 it wasn't on the paper yet. You know, it was written for a 25 year old white Irish Catholic
02:20 woman and the story that I had pitched to the producers to get the job as the actress
02:25 wasn't on the page yet. I had to go work with the writer and write that. So when I pitched the story
02:30 to these other directors, because it wasn't on the page, they couldn't quite see it. You know,
02:34 they didn't quite understand the world. They didn't really understand fighting the way I needed them
02:38 to. And I wanted the director to be a woman. I was adamant that it had to be a female filmmaker.
02:44 And I finally arrived with the knowing that, okay, I don't really want to do this, but I think I'm
02:52 going to have to find a way to tell this story myself if I am going to get out of my body what's
02:57 really inside my head." "And obviously this is your baby. This is a passion project for you. And you
03:03 knew you had to take control, which I love. Valentina and Sheila both stated the same thing.
03:08 There was so much love on the set and just so much heart behind every movement and everything you did.
03:14 So much so, I know you broke two ribs. You carried on as if you didn't break the ribs because you knew
03:20 how heavy this was to get done. You knew the lifting was heavy. Was there a moment where you
03:25 said, 'This is just too much. I can't do it?'" "No." "Never?" "No. I was determined and I had worked too hard
03:33 to get to that point and trained for two years. I got Valentina Tchepchenko, the flyweight champion,
03:39 to take time out of her reigning champion schedule. I knew that too many people were counting on me
03:46 and too many people believed in me. They supported me in big and small ways. And quitting
03:52 just was never... I thought, 'I'll quit if I just really can't breathe anymore and they take me
03:57 out of here in a stretcher, then I guess I'll quit.' But until that happens, there's no quitting me."
04:04 "I love that. I love everything about that. And it shows, again, I've watched it twice in one week
04:09 already, that you have filmed intimate scenes before in your career, not being behind the
04:16 camera, this time behind the camera and in front. How much more difficult or easy or what's the
04:22 process like for you now, knowing that you can... And it's two totally different intimate scenes
04:27 that you are shooting." "You know, I think these scenes, and every actor will tell you,
04:31 they're some of the hardest things we have to shoot. It really is. And I loved being behind
04:39 these scenes this time because I could make sure that not only did I get to shoot the scenes in
04:44 the way that I wanted to shoot the scenes to tell the story that I was trying to tell, but I also
04:48 knew that I could approach the scenes with a certain amount of sensitivity that I haven't
04:53 always had in my career when I've had to do these kinds of things. As a woman, I think I just wield
04:58 a different sensitivity to it. And I love that these actors gave themselves over to me into this
05:05 process. And there was a lot of trust between the two of them. And I told them I would never put in
05:09 the movie anything they were not comfortable with. They could go as far as they wanted with me,
05:13 that they could trust that I would only show them in the best possible light. And it had to be
05:19 something that they felt comfortable with. And so they both really went far because of that.
