00:00 The school will continue to receive the school supplies next week,
00:03 even if only a few classes were held in Bulacan and the supplies were damaged.
00:07 A school in Calumpit will be discarded so that the students can afford it.
00:14 Jun Veneracion, reporter, is in charge of this.
00:17 The flood that hit Francis Elementary School in Calumpit, Bulacan this July,
00:27 was already flooded but the floodwaters were still high in some parts of the school.
00:31 The flood was so severe.
00:33 We did not expect the water to be that high.
00:37 Many items, such as old books and cabinets, were hit by the high water.
00:41 In fact, 80% of the modules were not sustainable.
00:46 But there were already some that were replaced and some were expected to arrive from DepEd.
00:51 The wet cement that was supposed to be used for the school building
00:56 was only used for a few weeks.
00:58 The classroom was not enough for the 500 school population.
01:03 Our plan was to convert the ancillary services, such as laboratories, ICT laboratories,
01:09 into classrooms.
01:11 Due to the flood in Calumpit, Bulacan,
01:14 the three classrooms of Francis Elementary School will no longer be used
01:19 and they will be called "big" because these are the ones that usually win the contests.
01:24 Now, these will serve as warehouses for the damaged items and other things.
01:30 It is really depressing.
01:34 But we are still thankful because nothing is happening.
01:39 There are people drowning.
01:42 Despite the problem left by the flood,
01:45 this has no effect on the school opening next week.
01:49 There will be a few adjustments to be made whenever there is a flag raising ceremony
01:54 because there is still water in the school grounds.
01:57 According to the Department of Education spokesperson,
02:00 Attorney Michael Powa,
02:01 their supply of books is enough to replace the damaged books.
02:05 There is already an emergency procurement of the modules that are expected to be delivered on August 25.
02:11 If there are still schools that are flooded next week,
02:14 students can do blended learning first.
