Three people have died after contracting West Nile Virus from mosquito bites in Romania.

00:00 At least three people in Romania have died from the West Nile virus, an illness spread
00:05 by mosquitoes, for which there's no vaccine or antiviral treatment.
00:09 More than 10% of the country's mosquitoes carry the virus, according to a recent study.
00:14 Eight out of ten people infected with the virus will show no symptoms.
00:18 But in rare cases, it can cause a serious infection of the nervous system, leading to
00:23 paralysis, convulsions or loss of vision.
00:26 Vulnerable people are advised to cover their body while outside, to avoid being bitten
00:31 and to use anti-mosquito sprays.
