00:00 "Hey everybody, I just wanted to give a massive thank you to anyone that's trying to help me or support me right now."
00:05 TikTok star Caleb Coffey is on the road to recovery after a horrifying accident
00:10 where he slipped and fell while hiking with three friends in Hawaii.
00:14 His dad, Jason Coffey, shared the news on Instagram on Thursday, writing,
00:19 "Caleb is currently in the ICU. He fell off a 60-80 foot cliff onto lava rock.
00:25 Please pray and consider reading, sharing, and/or giving to his GoFund. Link in bio."
00:30 Hours later, he posted an update, saying,
00:33 "Quick update on Caleb. He is stable, conscious, talking, and in good spirits."
00:39 And continuing, "He has a broken femur. Surgery placed a rod through it.
00:43 Two plates and ten screws in his right elbow. A fractured wrist, stitches in forehead and lip.
00:50 He had another MRI to take a closer look at his neck.
00:53 The medical staff here is top notch and giving him the care and attention he needs.
00:58 I want to thank everyone for all your love and support.
01:01 It truly feels like family. We love you all. Please continue praying."
01:05 It looks like it's going to be a long road to recovery,
01:08 but Caleb is strong and we know he's going to get through this.
01:12 It truly is a miracle he is alive. All praise to the Lord Most High.
01:16 Later in the day, Caleb, who boasts more than 11 million followers on the social media platform,
01:22 gave his own personal update after finding out a little positive news.
01:26 "And I want to let you guys know a little update. I just found out that my neck
01:30 and spine is not broken. So thank you so much, God. And I just want everybody to know that anyone
01:38 that is supporting me, I really appreciate you guys and I'm doing my best to get better.
01:42 And I just want to give the biggest thank you to God, honestly, you guys, because this is not the
01:48 first time I have almost died in my life. When I was younger, I had severe seizures
01:52 and grand mal seizures and I almost died. And yesterday I almost died as well.
01:58 60 to 80 feet is, I can't even fathom. I don't even remember. I just woke up and I thought I
02:06 was going to die. And then I didn't die. So thank you, God."
02:12 His sister, Peyton Coffey, started a GoFundMe for the 18-year-old,
02:17 which has raised more than $15,500 as of Friday morning. She revealed that he was airlifted to
02:24 the emergency room after the incident and says they may not know the extent of his injuries
02:29 just yet, adding, "The medics have informed us more injuries will most likely pop up over the
02:35 next few weeks. If you can't donate, he would appreciate your prayers. He is thankful to be
02:41 alive but in excruciating pain as of now. Unfortunately, Caleb did not have medical insurance
02:47 and we cannot afford these medical bills. That is why we are making this GoFundMe."
02:52 Caleb seems to have a close relationship with his family and in April 2023, he opened up on
02:58 his YouTube page about what he wants for his own future. "Key points of what I'm looking for in
03:03 life would be, well, number one, a family. In the next four years, I want to have a whole bunch of
03:09 little kids, a beautiful wife. Other things that I want in my life is, well, grandkids. Kids,
03:20 grandkids, all right. A family is really my number one priority. Other than that, I want to travel
03:27 a lot. I want to see a lot of stuff go around the world. I just think that everyone's in like a box
03:33 most of the time in America, unless you get out of that box and like see the world. It's just kind
03:37 of like your world is so much smaller. So yeah, I want to travel. I want to travel all around the
03:43 world."
