00:00 I don't want it to be misconstrued that like I'm good, because I'm not.
00:06 I'm not good.
00:08 Bruce Willis' wife, Emma Hemming, is sharing the challenges of being a caregiver amid the
00:14 actor's health battle.
00:16 Emma takes to Instagram on August 14th to reflect on the hardships she has faced since
00:22 Bruce was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia, which can cause communication difficulties.
00:29 Emma and Bruce's family announced his diagnosis back in February.
00:33 I just think it's so important for us to sort of break up our thinking, which can feel,
00:40 for me, very much like doom and gloom.
00:43 So I know it looks like I'm out living my best life.
00:47 I have to make a conscious effort every single day to live the best life that I can.
00:53 As for what motivates Emma, she explains that it's her family, including her and the diehard
00:59 actor's two daughters, Mabel and Evelyn.
01:03 I do that for myself.
01:05 I do that for our two children and Bruce, who would not want me to live any other way.
01:14 So I don't want it to be misconstrued that like I'm good, because I'm not.
01:22 I'm not good.
01:24 I have to put my best foot forward for the sake of myself and my family.
01:30 Emma, who shares the emotional Instagram video message from her car, goes on to share that
01:35 this doesn't come easy to her.
01:38 Because again, when we are not looking after ourselves, we cannot look after anyone that
01:46 we love.
01:47 So it's really important.
01:48 And like I said, this is a conscious effort.
01:51 It does not come to me easily.
01:54 But I am just doing the best that I can always.
02:00 So your pictures are making me happy.
02:02 I just want you to take a moment out of your day.
02:07 And I know that your day is stressful and I know that your day is hard, but I just want
02:12 you just to break it up for a minute, just for a second and just look for something beautiful.
02:18 Emma captions the heartfelt video by writing, quote, This is a care partner PSA.
02:24 My message is simple.
02:26 When we are not looking after ourselves, we are no good to the people we love who we want
02:31 to show up for and take care of.
02:34 I don't have this down to a fine science either, but I try.
02:39 It's an affirmation I use daily.
02:41 So it's kept in the forefront of my mind.
02:44 Your pictures, words of support and love for me and my family were felt.
02:49 Honestly, thank you.
02:51 It helps.
02:53 Emma's message comes amid Bruce's heartbreaking battle with frontotemporal dementia, a progressive
02:59 neurological disorder that impacts both cognition and behavior.
