Tori Kelly Shares Why Health Scare Didn't Stop Her From Releasing New Music

00:10 The singer went live on Twitch Wednesday,

00:12 giving an update after her hospitalization last month.

00:15 I'm okay, thank you.

00:17 I'm seeing all of your comments.

00:18 I'm feeling so much better.

00:21 You guys have helped me feel a lot better, to be honest.

00:25 We're really happy.

00:26 Tori was placed in the ICU.

00:28 Reports claiming blood clots were discovered

00:30 in both her legs and lungs.

00:33 And she was in and out of consciousness

00:35 throughout the whole process.

00:37 These clots in the lungs can cause the heart

00:40 to go into very rapid heart rates

00:42 and sometimes actually cause arrhythmias,

00:44 which is abnormal heart rates.

00:46 It can actually cause patients

00:47 to actually go in and out of consciousness.

00:49 But probably for her, a lot of it has to do

00:52 with the appropriate oxygenated blood going to the brain

00:57 and trying to perfuse her brain the best possible way.

00:59 Even now, just running tests and figuring everything out.

01:04 But overall, I do feel better and I'm feeling good

01:07 and I'm back, I'm home.

01:10 So that's obviously a good thing.

01:14 And seeing all of your guys' comments and love and support

01:18 just really meant a lot.

01:20 Tori, who rose to fame in 2015,

01:23 was set to release a new self-titled EP

01:25 just days after the incident.

01:35 I would say, you know,

01:39 I feel like I'm stepping more into myself.

01:42 You know, I just turned 30.

01:43 I feel like, you know, this new chapter of my life,

01:47 this new era, if you will.

01:48 But despite the unexpected health struggle,

01:51 she still decided to put out her new music.

01:54 Obviously I had my EP ready to go.

01:57 And so I decided, I was like, you know what?

02:00 I still wanna put this out.

02:02 This music represents such a happy time in my life.

02:06 And y'all have been waiting,

02:08 I've been waiting to put this out.

02:10 I don't wanna wait any longer.

02:11 I've been through a lot since my last album.

02:14 So it feels good just to put out music

02:16 that represents where I'm at, is fun and upbeat.

02:19 And it's, yeah, it's good.

02:20 I've just felt more confident,

02:22 just stepping more into myself,

02:24 embracing all the parts of myself.

02:26 And I think that's really bled into this new music.

02:29 The artist was also scheduled to perform

02:32 at the Roxy Theater in Los Angeles to play her new tracks.

02:35 But she says nothing's stopping her

02:37 from doing what she loves most.

02:40 We're working on rescheduling that, by the way.

02:42 Obviously was gutted that I wasn't able to do that show.

02:49 But yeah, of course, wanna be able to do that show

02:54 and just get back out and perform in general.

02:59 I'm so excited and so ready.

03:03 Thankful that I get to still do what I love.

03:05 Just feels good to be getting music out there.

03:12 this new chapter with everybody.
