With 50% of Malaysians being paid below RM2600 a month, Rafizi Ramli says low wages are among the three main structural problems beleaguering the economy.
The Economy Minister said in his televised debate with PAS MP Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman on Wednesday (Aug 9) that the problems cannot be resolved by using old ways which is through debts, and this is also why Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had announced the Madani Economy Framework for radical measures to resolve the issues.
05:25 Bapak-Ibu-Ibu, Saudara-Ibu Anwar, aimed at the economic structure of Madani, their goal was to stimulate the national economic approach, to give more radical economic pillars to solve these tree problems.
05:40 I will discuss these economic pillars, of course there must be questions from the moderators on these economic pillars, but I would also like to say that some of them have already been done.
05:53 For example, if we create a new industry, we will launch a power transition plan, because this is the industry that gets the highest investment in the world.
06:05 It will not only create economic opportunities in the field of large investments, but it can also be an attractive force to investors, because many high-tech companies want clean energy to move their operations to this country.
06:26 Saudara Anwar has also announced a progressive wage base, which will increase the wages of public and private workers. This is the first time the government has intervened in the establishment of wages for all workers.
06:43 So, God willing, all of these are no longer just plans, these programs have been launched. That is why I know, in my heart, I think Saudara Syahir has also held back from being amazed,
06:56 because the current government has managed to build these programs in just 8 months, while they have been in the process for 33 months. There is no solution.
