00:00 Hi, I'm Michaela Plasterfield and I'm here in my bedroom for the Rolling Stones in My Room sessions.

00:05 I'll be singing a couple of songs that I've written in here. This is where I've written all of my music

00:11 and where all of this kind of started for me, which is fun and exciting.

00:17 This first song that I'm going to do is my first single, my debut single, Damage You Still Do.

00:25 This song started everything for me and without it none of this would be happening.

00:30 So I have, it holds very close to my heart I think.

00:34 It's basically about somebody reaching out after years of no contact and

00:41 it affecting you a little bit more than it probably should have and

00:45 yeah, in my case I had a humongous panic attack.

00:52 Yeah, I wrote a song about it instead of therapy. So this is Damage You Still Do.

05:33 and it's my second single and it's come to my attention that a lot of people don't know what a bindi is

05:38 because it's a very regional Australia slang word

05:42 but it's basically this prickly little weed in the grass

05:47 that stabs into your foot if you're dancing around barefoot

05:51 and it absolutely ruins your day. They're very hard to get out, they're very painful

05:56 It's a whole thing and the whole kind of song centres around that metaphor of being vulnerable

06:05 and wanting to just have fun and not make any type of meaningful attachment

06:12 and one coming along anyway and really causing a lot more pain than it should have

06:20 So yeah, that's kind of the gist of this one

06:25 It's my personal favourite that I've ever written

11:15 It kind of centres around the idea of

11:20 craving to be hurt the same way that someone wants to hurt you,

11:25 emotionally speaking, of course.

11:29 And yeah, kind of falling into that a little bit and yeah.

11:35 I'm not really entirely sure how to describe this one.

11:37 I think the lyrics really speak for themselves.

11:40 It's a little bit dark.

11:43 But yeah, this is the new one.
