What happened to UK restaurant chain Little Chef?

Roadside restaurant chain Little Chef first launched in 1958 and had around 439 locations at its peak.

Many of these were located on motorways and A-roads near a Travelodge or Burger King.

Some - like this Nottinghamshire restaurant - featured unique architectural designs.

After 2000, it seems the emerging fast-food model, rising prices, and customer dissatisfaction led to a decline

Attempts later in the decade to save the brand were futile and by 2018 it stopped operating.
