00:00 KeyGrey24 Studios, in association with Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends Winter Railway Adventures Productions, are both proud to present the Battle of the Branch Lines.
00:09 There are many branch lines on the island of Sodor. However, the most famous of them is Thomas' branch line.
00:15 Branch lines are the way that the passengers get around Sodor. The most notable is Annie and Clarabel.
00:21 Thomas enjoys having Annie and Clarabel on his branch line.
00:25 There is also Gordon, who pulls the Express. Even though the Express is his own type of train, Gordon thinks it's his branch line, and he is very proud of it.
00:35 There's also James, who pulls his own special coach around Sodor, and he's very proud of that.
00:41 And then there's also the faithful Toby, who pulls Henrietta all around the island of Sodor.
00:48 Sometimes, Henry takes a train once in a while. Then there's Duck and Oliver with their Great Western branch line.
00:54 There's Daisy, who has a very convenient branch line. And then there's the newly added Mighty Mac branch line with Old Slow Coach.
01:01 And then there's Spencer, who thinks his Duke and Duchess' coach could become its own branch line.
01:07 But everybody disagrees with them highly. However, Spencer ignores them every single time.
01:14 One day, everybody arrives at the station. It was 7.55, and all the trains left the station at 8 o'clock.
01:24 Everyone was very excited, and they're having their own conversation.
01:27 Suddenly, Gordon brought up a topic. "Hey, guys," he said. "Do you guys think I have the best branch line on the railway?"
01:33 "A branch line?" said Thomas. "You pull the Express."
01:36 "My branch line is obviously the best one." "No, it isn't," said Gordon. "That's ridiculous."
01:41 "Ha! You guys are both wrong. Gordon, you sometimes don't even pull the Express."
01:46 "I always pull my faithful coach."
01:48 "Except when you're pulling the Express," said Toby. "I always pull Henrietta. You and Gordon sometimes flip jobs."
01:55 "And, well, Thomas, you're so used to it, you don't even count." "Hey," said Thomas.
02:00 "As you all know, and plus, Henrietta and I go all around Sodor. We have the best branch line ever."
02:10 "Excuse you," said Henry. "I beg your pardon for lying. Of course, the coaches that I pull are the best."
02:18 "No matter what." "Excuse me? Excuse you?" said Daisy. "I believe you are lying as well."
02:24 "I have the best branch line. Passengers can sit right in me. Who wouldn't like that?"
02:29 "Uh, people who don't like diesels, that's what."
02:33 "The Little Western branch line is the best branch line ever," said Duck. "Yes, indeed," said Oliver.
02:38 "It is run by great Western engines, who are obviously the worst engines," said Spencer as he puffed in.
02:45 "My branch line is obviously the best." "Your coach is not a branch line," said all the engines.
02:52 "Fine," said Spencer. "Be that way," and he puffed away.
02:55 "Well, excuse you guys," said Mighty Mac. "Our new branch line has become a real big hit, too.
03:02 People like being pulled by two engines, if you know what we mean."
03:05 Everyone soon started arguing who had the best branch line.
03:09 The arguing continued past eight o'clock. When the clock struck eight o'clock and the conductor blew his whistle, nobody heard it.
03:20 They were too busy arguing. "Oh dear," said Terrence and Trevor, who had been watching.
03:24 "This is terrible. Nobody is leaving." In fact, it was so loud that Sir Topham Hatt was also cross, and he stomped right out of his office.
03:32 "Excuse you all," said Sir Topham Hatt. "It is now past eight o'clock, and I don't want everybody to be late.
03:38 Please hurry along your way so we can make up for lost time."
03:41 "Thank you," he said. "And plus, next time you guys are going to have a conversationāoh, sorry, excuse me, argument, please keep it down a little bit."
03:49 "Thank you," said Sir Topham Hatt, and he walked away.
03:53 But nobody left. They were still having their argument. "My branch line," said Thomas, "is obviously the best."
04:00 "Everybody knows it. Annie and Clara both have the most comfortable seats."
04:04 "The most comfortable seats?" said Gawain. "The Express obviously has the most comfortable seats, and it serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
04:12 Who wouldn't want to have a ride on the Express?"
04:16 "People who ride my branch line," said James. "We can fit twice as many passengers as Annie and Clara both combined,
04:23 and people enjoy my branch line much more than the Express. I am never late."
04:31 "Pah!" said Toby. "My branch line is obviously the best. You see, Henrietta and I go all around Sodor. Who wouldn't want to do that?"
04:39 "Excuse me," said Henry. "My branch line is obviously the best. I'm never late."
04:44 "Pah!" said Daisy. "You've been late many times. I've never been late."
04:48 "Of course you have," said Duck and Oliver. "You're a diesel. Diesels are always late. The Little Western branch line is always reliable. You can count on us."
04:56 "So," said Mighty Mac, "our branch line is very good as well."
05:01 Everybody continued arguing, and Terrence and Trevor were very sad.
05:04 "It's sad to see the most impressive engines on the railway fighting over something so stupid," said Trevor.
05:09 "Yes, indeed," said Terrence. "We need to put a stop to this."
05:12 It was now 8.30, and no one had left the station.
05:14 "Hey, hey, hey!" said Terrence. "Have you guys realized that it's past 8 o'clock?"
05:19 "Only a couple of minutes," said Toby. "No, that was when Sir Topham Hatt came out."
05:23 "Sir Topham Hatt came out a half hour ago. It's past 8.30."
05:26 Everyone gasped. "Oh dear," they said. "We're going to be late."
05:29 And everybody rushed off.
05:31 That night, Sir Topham Hatt called all the engines back to the station.
05:36 "You guys were a half hour late today," he said, and the passengers were furious.
05:40 "I had to give refunds to every single passenger on the island, and so that cost me $20,000 out of my pocket."
05:48 "$20,000?" said Gordon. "That's not a lot." "Oh, yes it is," said Sir Topham Hatt.
05:55 "Not really," said James. "Considering you're a millionaire."
05:58 "I am not a millionaire," said Sir Topham Hatt.
06:01 "And since you guys caused this problem, you guys are going to fix it."
06:04 "What do you mean?" asked Toby. "By the end of Friday, you guys are going to get me $20,000."
06:09 "$20,000?" said Henry. "That's not fair."
06:12 "Of course it is," said Sir Topham Hatt. "You made the passengers late. The passengers were crossed.
06:17 I had to give refunds, and now I don't have enough money.
06:21 So, you guys are going to be in a bit of a predicament for the next five days."
06:26 "But it's Monday night. That won't be enough time," said Gordon.
06:29 "Oh, Gordon," said Sir Topham Hatt, "you're the one who told me that $20,000 wasn't a lot."
06:35 "I suspect you shall be earning the most money out of this deal."
06:38 Sir Topham Hatt walked away. "I expect to see $20,000 on my desk by Friday evening."
06:46 "Oh dear," said the angels, "we're in trouble now. It's all because of Gordon who started this," said Thomas.
06:51 And once again, everybody started arguing.
06:54 "Oh dear," said Trevor. "Trevor, I need to stop this."
06:57 "Hey, hey, hey," said Trevor. "Terence and I have an idea that you guys can earn $20,000 by the end of the week."
07:02 "You do?" said everyone. Everyone was looking at them very, very hard.
07:06 "It better be a good plan," said Daisy. "Oh, we need a good plan," said Mighty Mac.
07:10 "Don't worry," said Terence and Trevor. "Hopefully it will be.
07:13 "You see, we're just going to need to charge a little extra money at the ticket booths."
07:17 "That's not fair to the passengers," said Gordon. "Well, it's going to be fair to the passengers and you. Just listen to me."
07:23 "Okay, so you guys are arguing who has the best branch line. Why not let the passengers decide?
07:27 "The passengers are the ones who ride and the coaches and all that. They should be able to decide."
07:33 "You're right," said Toby. "That's a great idea."
07:35 "And so," said Terence, "here's what we're going to do. We're going to charge a little extra money at the ticket booths.
07:40 "Like, for example, an average ticket for the express is $10.
07:46 "If we charge $13, we'll make three extra dollars every time someone purchases a ticket.
07:51 "That will go to help the $20,000.
07:55 "Then the ticket master will tell the passengers that the money is going to help pay for Sir Topham Hatt.
08:04 "And they can go on any train they like during the week.
08:07 "And then at every station, passengers will be given a ballot.
08:12 "Then they can vote to see who has the best branch line.
08:15 "At the end of the week, here on Friday, we'll have all the station masters bring their votes in
08:21 "and they'll count them right here in front of your eyes.
08:23 "Then we'll see who really has the best branch line.
08:26 "And then we'll also be able to pay off $20,000.
08:29 "We'll just make the tickets a little more expensive. Sound good?"
08:34 "Terrence, I must say that is the most brilliant idea ever."
08:38 "Oh, thank you," said Terrence. "All right, it will start tomorrow," he said.
08:41 "Now everybody off to your sheds. You guys need a good night's rest."
08:44 But that night, nobody slept. They were all thinking about strategy.
08:47 At 7.50 the next morning, everybody arrived at the station.
08:51 They wanted to start campaigning for their branch line.
08:56 "All right," said Terrence as the clock struck. "On your mark, get set, go!"
09:01 But before everybody could rush off, Trevor had some more news.
09:04 "Wait, guys," he said. "There's more news."
09:06 "What is it now?" said the engines. "You guys are going to need a partner."
09:10 "A partner?" said the engines. "That's ridiculous."
09:13 "No it isn't," said Trevor. "You're going to see why."
