00:00 spring in Louisiana Republican Congressman Mike Johnson serves on the
00:03 House Judiciary Committee and sir, good morning to you. Thank you for your time.
00:05 You should say good afternoon. That is force of habit right there. My bad.
00:08 What do you expect to come from this today, sir?
00:12 Well, this could be a blockbuster moment. We've needed another breakthrough.
00:19 You know, the house has been doing our responsibility, our duty under the
00:23 Constitution, and that is to investigate these alleged bribery and extortion
00:27 scandals, these abuses of power and the more stones that we overturn, the
00:31 more scandals we uncover. And this is a key witness. Of course, Mr Archer
00:35 was intimately involved in the personal and business affairs of Hunter Biden
00:39 and very likely his father. So what he says today in that room will have a
00:43 big bearing, I think, on the direction of these investigations. Okay, you're
00:46 knee deep in this investigation. Why are you not in Washington listening to
00:51 this in person?
00:51 Oh, I wish I could be there. I'm not on the oversight committee. I serve on
00:56 House Judiciary and the Weaponization Committee. And this is particularly and
01:00 specifically an oversight committee hearing. So we have key members there.
01:04 Jim Jordan, who is the chair of the House Judiciary Committee, as you know,
01:07 and also on oversight, is there in the room as our other members and of course
01:11 our expert professional staff who are deep in the weeds on all the evidence
01:15 and they'll be asking Mr Archer questions, you know, for two hours. The
01:18 Republican side has two full hours, and I think it's gonna be very, very
01:22 revealing. When do you find out? Yeah. When do you believe that we will learn
01:25 about what he said? Could that be this afternoon? Well,
01:29 well, it may be. I expect some of our members may be talking to the press
01:34 after this. Chad just mentioned there in his report that the full transcript
01:38 will be available in 3 to 4 days, and that will be anxiously anticipated by a
01:43 lot of people. You know what we believe Mr Archer is going to say is that he
01:48 was involved in these these exchanges on the telephone, for example, you know,
01:53 conference calls where the president himself was involved being introduced
01:56 to these foreign oligarchs and foreign business dealings that Hunter was
02:00 involved in. And of course, that goes directly against everything he has said
02:03 from the beginning about this. And we think this corruption goes back several
02:06 years, all the way back to when he was vice president. This is a serious,
02:10 serious matter. Devin Archer. A lot of viewers just really getting to know
02:14 this man right now. He goes, he goes back for years with Hunter Biden when
02:18 it comes to business. However, he's about to go to jail. And if you if you
02:23 look at this guy's call for number two sentenced to a year in prison for
02:27 securities fraud and conspiracy charges hasn't happened yet. Order to pay 15
02:32 million in forfeiture and 43 million in restitution and losses appealed just
02:36 about three months last month in the month of June. What is his incentive to
02:41 cooperate today?
02:44 Well, nobody could get into the mind and the heart of Mr Archer. But my
02:48 suspicion is that he wants to come clean. He has nothing to lose now. He
02:51 is going to be sentenced to prison for his involvement with the Native
02:55 American tribes and all of that. But that doesn't change the value of what
02:59 he has witnessed the evidence that he has. And you see the Democrats pulling
03:02 out every stop, including the Department of Justice. I mean, whether
03:06 or not they were trying to suggest that he should immediately be imprisoned
03:10 over the weekend is not the point. It's the brazen intervention. They're
03:13 following a playbook. The Democrats in Congress have used in our weapon a
03:17 weaponization committee investigation. For example, you try to intimidate the
03:20 witnesses and then they try to discredit the information they bring
03:23 forward. I don't think it's gonna work here. I think there are too many
03:25 sources of of evidence and backup for this, and I think the people are seeing
03:29 right through. Okay, I got one minute. I got two more topics. The D. A. D. O. J.
03:32 Move with the letter on Saturday. Did you read much into that? Because
03:36 apparently Archer's lawyers did not.
03:39 Well, we did, because, as I was saying, this is kind of the playbook. We
03:43 should have expected it a letter on a Saturday. I mean, come on, everybody
03:47 can see right through it. But myself and other members of judiciary were
03:50 ready to jump on planes last night and come to D. C. Because if indeed they
03:54 had tried to prevent him from testifying today, which is what it
03:56 looked like, we would have hauled Merrick Garland himself in for
03:59 questioning. This goes all the way to the top, and that's the great concern
04:01 that everybody has. Last point. On Friday afternoon, the president made a
04:06 bit of a joke about impeachment, which Kevin McCarthy suggested impeachment
04:10 inquiry should take place. First, here's what he said on Friday.
04:14 Earlier this week, The Washington Post suggested Republicans may have to find
04:20 something else to criticize me for. Now that inflation is coming down. Maybe
04:25 they'll decide to impeach me because it's coming down. I don't know. I love
04:29 that one. What's the thing of that comment?
04:33 It's not a joking matter. The president may try to make light of this, but we
04:36 don't. This is not about politics. It's about our constitutional
04:39 responsibility under Article one and Article two. The House has the
04:43 responsibility to pursue these things. The president has been accused of
04:47 bribery. That's one of the listed causes for impeachment in the
04:50 Constitution. We have no choice in this. We have to follow the facts where they
04:53 lead, and he's not taking it seriously enough. But the people are Bill, and
04:57 that's the one. Mike Johnson, thank you for your time. The Republican from
05:00 Louisiana. We'll see what we get maybe later today or not. Thank you, sir, for
05:04 coming on today.
05:04 Thank you. I'm Steve Ducey. I'm Brian Kill me, and I mean, clear heart and
