00:00 The return to the negotiation of the Free Trade Agreement of the Philippines and the European Union has started this year.
00:05 According to the Department of Trade and Industry,
00:08 this targets to expand the benefits of the current GSP Plus or the Generalized System of Preference Plus.

00:23 DTI is studying the digital trade, energy, and critical minerals in the sectors that will be added to the FTA.
00:32 Government technical experts from the Philippines and the EU
00:36 will engage in comprehensive discussions
00:40 covering topics including market access of goods and services,
00:44 investment liberalization,
00:47 trade and sustainable development, government procurement, disputes, settlement, etc.
00:53 We expect that these discussions will start with scoping exercises.
01:03 And our expectation is that we can commence this right after the usual summer holidays in Europe,
01:10 maybe in early September.
01:12 And hope to finish this scoping exercise before the end of this year.
