Commissioner George Kliavkoff made his presentation to the Pac-12 presidents of the media rights proposal
Transcript
00:00 There was no outcome as of Tuesday afternoon on PAC-12 Commissioner George Klivkov's presentation
00:10 to the PAC-12 presidents on the new media rights deal.
00:16 The news out of various media sources today is that it's driven by an Apple streaming
00:22 package.
00:24 So if you're not already into streaming television, you're going to be soon if you're a Cal fan
00:30 or a PAC-12 fan, at least it sounds like if this deal comes to fruition.
00:35 In my house, we've already watching Hulu and Netflix, so Apple TV may not be far behind.
00:43 We don't know if this deal will be approved still.
00:46 The presidents apparently are thinking about it and looking at what sounds like is a tier-driven
00:53 proposal where the revenue will increase each year based on subscriptions of Apple TV.
01:01 I also don't think we should assume that Apple would be the only source of watching PAC-12
01:06 football.
01:07 I'm sure there will be games on other networks as well, but it does sound like the proposal
01:14 that is front and center to the presidents does involve streaming with Apple.
01:20 And so if it comes to fruition, if it happens, it may not be immediately better than say
01:26 the big 12 income, but it sounds like in the long run, it might be better.
01:32 So that's what the PAC-12 is hoping will convince its members to sign on to.
01:39 They certainly don't want to lose the Arizona schools or Utah, and all of a sudden the PAC-12
01:43 a year from now would be six schools, and that doesn't constitute much of a confidence.
