Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has refuted claims that he delivered a political talk at a mosque in Rawang, saying that he is ready to fully cooperate with the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (JAIS) if he is called in for questioning.

00:19 committee to address the recent controversy surrounding British band The 1975 at the Good

00:28 He stressed that he did not speak about political issues or the state polls, adding that he
00:32 was considering suing those who had defamed him.
00:36 In a statement on Monday, JAIS said it had received complaints on the matter and had
00:40 called in the mosque administrator to give statement.
00:45 This was after photos showing Fahmi giving a speech at the Nuroyakin Mosque in Kampong
00:49 Melayu, Serikundang went viral.
00:52 JAIS said it was investigating the allegations under Section 12 of the Syarawak Criminal
00:57 Law Enactment 1997.
01:00 The Selangor police have also opened an investigation into the allegations and received a recording
01:05 of the speech made by the minister.
01:09 State Police Chief, Commissioner Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, said the case is being investigated
01:14 under Section 500 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.
