00:00 Okay, before I let you go, Fish, what about all of these contracts?
00:05 What are you hearing?
00:06 And then, of course, what do you make of Jerry Jones' comments?
00:08 Yeah, and of course, as the week goes on, we may be able to close the book on Zach Martin
00:13 and that dispute.
00:15 It's for anybody that says, "Well, it's obvious they should do this."
00:18 That's just wrong.
00:19 Well, yeah.
00:20 Because both sides have a point.
00:23 Zach Martin's point is, "That was then, this is now."
00:26 And that's pretty commonplace in the NFL.
00:29 Lots of teams do that.
00:30 "Well, yeah, you got us there.
00:32 That contract was four years ago."
00:34 Jerry Jones and the Cowboys' front office point is, "But we did that deal in anticipation
00:38 of 2023.
00:39 We paid you all that money then, believing that that was going to be your piece of the
00:43 pie going forward."
00:45 So it's a classic contractual argument.
00:48 Every day -- It's one that Dak Prescott could make as well.
00:50 Correct.
00:51 Dak Prescott could go in right now and say, "You know, not only do I want the extension
00:55 that helps the team, but I just saw Justin Herbert do $262 million.
01:01 And he hadn't done what I've done, and he hadn't been around as long as I have."
01:06 There will eventually be a give somewhere, but Jerry Jones is certainly not in the mood
01:11 to concede.
01:12 And I know he has explained, or the Cowboys have explained to Zach Martin's face -- Zach's
01:17 a smart man.
01:18 He understands this.
01:19 "The pie is this big.
01:21 If we give you two pieces of it, then we can't give Micah what he's due, and we can't give
01:28 C.D. Lamb what he's due," and on and on and on.
01:32 It's a valid argument.
01:34 It's also clever of Jerry to go public and say, "If I do this guy, I can't pay Micah."
01:40 Because then the audience is going, "Oh, boy, we've got to have Micah."
01:44 And not to mention, Micah is pretty outspoken.
01:46 Very much so.
01:47 So you're like, "Okay, well, this could turn ugly quick."
01:49 Yes.
01:50 And you've got Jonathan Taylor with the Colts, who's turning ugly.
01:54 The AFC South right now is looking at the Colts' situation and going, "They're already
01:58 bad.
02:00 The owner already has a reputation for being a goofball, and now their best player is being
02:05 accused of an injury that he says, 'I don't have,' all as a way to use leverage and money
02:10 against him.
02:11 It's a bad scene in Indianapolis."
02:13 And of course, the Houston Texans are going, "Fine.
02:18 We need some bad scenes in Indianapolis."
02:20 So we don't finish last.
02:21 So what Ursae did in going public, the way he did, was bad form.
02:26 What Jerry's done in going public was a way to get the public to at least understand the
02:32 Cowboys' side.
02:33 Where they're coming from.
02:34 But yeah, more contracts to come from Oxnard, and we'll be all over it, of course, here
02:38 on the Fish Report and at CowboysSI.com.
