outfit Harp & a Monkey - one of whom (Simon Jones) is an acclaimed artist and another (Martin Purdy) a professional storyteller and author.

The project was funded by Live & Local, the Nottinghamshire arts provider.

Residents of the former mining village of Clipstone in Nottinghamshire were invited to think about alternative local landmarks to ‘The Headstocks’ – the 68-metre-high winding mechanisms at the former colliery that continue to loom over the community.

It’s hard to think of Clipstone without picturing these towering monoliths, but what other local places make people think of home?

Here are some of the answers…

03:58 and I put a wreath on there every year in November.
04:04 The stones as you enter into Clipstone are beautifully carved
04:11 and I always think of Clipstone, even if they took the headstocks down
04:15 I would still think the stones would be there.
04:19 My neighbours caravan because I always get invited, well I sometimes get invited there
04:25 and it makes me feel like home because it's always next door to my house.
04:31 It's like when I'm driving past there's like an estate
04:36 and when I see that it's like I know I'm nearly home and then I get excited that I'm nearly home.

04:48 Because my dogs are very vocal so when I'm like at the headstocks or at Ruby's I can hear them from there.
