00:00So I've been on my next section of The Loop today, and I started in Clown with walking with a group
00:19from Just Good Friends, walking along the Greenway and arriving here at Creswell Crags, and I'm
00:26joined by two guests. I'm George Buchanan, I'm the Director here at Creswell Crags. And Sally.
00:32I'm Sally Gilborne, I'm Chief Executive of the North Arts Bid Business Improvement District.
00:37Great to be here, thank you very much for welcoming me and taking me into some of those caves. So tell me
00:44a little bit more about what you're doing here and how it's encouraging more visitors to come and how
00:50you at The Bid and Sally are supporting those businesses. Sure, well here at Creswell Crags,
00:57we're on the border of both Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, Bolsover and Bassett Laws. So it's so
01:03important that we link up with attractions in both of those counties, both of those areas,
01:09and that we're seen as a cluster of an offer. North Notts and Northeast Derbyshire have such a wonderful
01:16collection of historical sites to visit, whether that's Plumber Park or Hardwick Hall or Bolsover
01:22Castle here at Creswell. And it's really important that we're all talking to each other and the loop
01:28walk and cycling routes are a fantastic way to get people outside and think about two different
01:34destinations to visit. And how are you able to support that? So we're quite unique as a bit,
01:39because we're the UK's first area-wide bid. So there's five bids in the EMCA area. So there's
01:46three in Nottinghamshire, two in Derbyshire, currently with potentially more developing.
01:52But I think the fact, you know, they're generally there for the old town or city bids.
01:56We cover the whole district of Bassett Law, which is 246 square miles. So as well as supporting our
02:02town centre businesses, we also support our industrial areas and we support our rural areas.
02:08The lesser known places that haven't quite had the spotlights, they don't perhaps sit inside the
02:13Peak District or Sherwood Forest, are wonderful places and they're crying out for more visitors.
02:18So there's lots to discover here and it's just untapped tourism goals here and it's providing
02:26exactly what people are looking for. Green spaces, really good venue, great food, interested and
02:33wonderful and inspiring teams of staff who are very eager to share the stories of these
02:39wonderful places, both the history and the connections with nature.
02:43And I know it's been tough for a lot of hospitality and visitor economy businesses, particularly in the
02:50last few years after Covid. So if we can encourage more people to come in and start to spend some money
02:57here, but also think about the jobs and think about the skills. So I'm really keen to develop, you know,
03:05a bit of a specialism for some of those skills in this region because I think we've got so much to offer in.
03:11Yeah, yeah, we have definitely. Thank you very much. It's a pleasure. Thank you.
