00:00 All right, we're here at Lambeau Field, one of the best stops in the training camp tour.
00:04 You guys can see the beautiful natural grass there.
00:07 New scoreboard's up for the 23 season.
00:09 We have five takeaways from Packers camp, and if you're at Packers camp this year, first
00:13 question you're going to get is how did Jordan Love look?
00:16 The truth is I don't have a great idea because I only saw a jog through, but I was able to
00:21 talk to people in the building, including Jordan himself about the stage of development
00:24 that he's at.
00:25 And the key here is they're trying to throw the kitchen sink at him over the course of
00:28 the summer.
00:29 That could mean playing him more, and you guys hear the tour behind me, in preseason
00:33 game to try to build the volume of things that he's seen.
00:37 And he's also going to have the joint practices against the Bengals and the Patriots.
00:41 So reps is the key with Jordan Love.
00:42 He's going to get a lot of them.
00:43 He's going to see a lot over the course of the next six weeks leading into the regular
00:47 season opener.
00:48 Takeaway number two, the veteran core of this team is really strong, but they're going to
00:52 be younger around that veteran core now with a lot of Aaron Rodgers guys gone.
00:57 And that means there's going to be a lot of competition with young guys in training camp
00:59 at spots like the nickel corner spot, at the safety opposite Darnell Savage at the right
01:04 tackle spot.
01:05 Who's the third running back going to be?
01:07 How's the receiver position going to shake out beyond Romeo Dobbs and Christian Watson?
01:11 All questions that need to be answered over the course of the next month.
01:14 Takeaway number three, another one of those spots, the tight end spot and the development
01:18 of the rookies is going to be key to where the offense goes this year.
01:21 Luke Musgrave and Tucker Craft both drafted in April.
01:24 Musgrave is certainly one to watch.
01:26 And because he's got freakish athletic ability, you can at least count on him being a matchup
01:31 guy in the Packers offense this year.
01:33 How much his role grows from there remains to be seen.
01:36 And the next few weeks are going to dictate that.
01:38 Takeaway number four, a couple of guys notably absent from the field right now are Rashawn
01:43 Gary and Eric Stokes.
01:44 The Packers are going to be judicious about bringing those guys back.
01:46 The plan and the hope is to get them off the pup list by the time they break training camp.
01:52 But they're even then, they're going to be careful in ramping them back up.
01:55 And early in the season, those guys could be managed.
01:57 So both those guys are really key.
01:58 And Gary's one to watch.
02:01 I'm just telling you, like physically looking at him, he looks like his body's different
02:05 now.
02:06 He looks sleeker.
02:07 He looks slimmer.
02:08 He looks more of a prototypical edge rusher.
02:10 He was my dark horse for defensive player of the year last year.
02:13 He was getting to that level.
02:14 And I'm not saying he's going to be there at the beginning of the year this year, because
02:17 coming back from an ACL is tough.
02:19 But it wouldn't surprise me if he's there by the end of the year.
02:22 Finally, takeaway number five, defensive line depth is one concern that you'd have here.
02:27 And that's where a couple of rookies in Carl Brooks and Colby Wooden come into play.
02:31 Both those guys drafted on day three.
02:34 Packers are optimistic those guys are going to be able to play roles for the team come
02:37 the regular season.
02:38 That's it from here at Packers camp.
02:40 Our next stop in Chicago.
