00:04 Number one, make sure you're buying it from a business

00:07 and a reputable business,

00:09 because that means that you've got more buyer protections

00:11 under the Consumer Goods Act.

00:14 Number two, I would say,

00:15 make sure it's got full service history.

00:18 And always check.

00:19 Anyone can say, "Yeah, yeah, yeah,

00:20 it's got full service history."

00:22 But then when you look, it doesn't.

00:23 Make sure that the services were on time,

00:25 at the right mileage, and at the right year,

00:27 and it had the correct service done.

00:30 And make sure you see receipts.

00:32 Number three, I would always say,

00:34 make sure that a car's got a long MOT.

00:37 And if it doesn't, ask the dealership

00:40 or the selling garage to MOT it again.

00:43 That's really important.

00:44 But remember, an MOT does not mean

00:46 that a car's mechanically sound,

00:48 it just means that it's roadworthy.

00:49 You should always check that the car is mechanically sound.

00:52 If you don't know how to do it yourself,

00:54 ask a local garage if they can send an engineer to do it,

00:57 or the AA and the RSC offer a service that you can pay for,
