Mercedes-Benz CEO Ola Kallenius said in an interview with CNBC that the transition to zero-emission mobility, particularly electric vehicles, should be seen as a long-term commitment rather than a quick process. He likened it to a marathon and states that the automotive industry is only at the early stages of this journey, around kilometer eight or nine. Kallenius also stressed the importance of maintaining flexibility in production to balance traditional internal combustion engine vehicles with electric ones. Mercedes-Benz has been investing in EVs and has received a positive response for its current EV models. In the second quarter, the company reported strong earnings, with a significant increase in battery electric vehicle sales compared to the previous year.
