00:00 This casserole recipe is called Husband's Delight.
00:03 Let's find out why.
00:04 Add some olive oil to a skillet.
00:08 Add the onion to the skillet
00:09 and just saute it until it's soft.
00:11 (sizzling)
00:13 Once your onion is mostly soft,
00:16 we can add in that ground sirloin
00:20 and ground Italian sausage.
00:22 I'm using ground sirloin because it doesn't have
00:26 as much fat as other types of ground beef,
00:29 but you can really use whatever you have on hand
00:32 or whatever you prefer.
00:33 We're cooking our meat and kind of stirring it occasionally
00:36 as we cook it to fully crumble it up
00:39 and also wanna make sure there is no pink left,
00:41 so we're browning it.
00:42 And once that happens,
00:43 we can add in a packet of Italian dressing mix.
00:46 We're also adding in a half teaspoon of salt.
00:49 Salt makes everything taste better.
00:52 All right, we're off the heat.
00:53 Here is 32 ounces of jarred marinara.
00:57 And then I have already gone ahead
00:58 and cooked a pound of extra wide egg noodles.
01:02 You could really use any kind of noodle
01:04 that you have on hand.
01:05 Give this a good stir,
01:06 and if you're like me and you didn't choose
01:07 a big enough skillet, do it very carefully
01:09 so it doesn't spill,
01:11 or you could transfer it to a larger bowl.
01:13 Once it's all mixed together,
01:14 you can put it into a nine by 13 casserole dish
01:17 that you have greased.
01:20 I used olive oil.
01:21 You could do cooking spray.
01:22 You could really do whatever.
01:23 And now, time for the best part, a cheese layer,
01:26 which is going to be so creamy and delicious.
01:28 It has cream cheese and cottage cheese.
01:32 You could also use ricotta cheese if you wanted.
01:35 Why I think it's called husband's delight
01:37 is because it is basically like lasagna,
01:40 just without lasagna noodles.
01:42 Into our bowl of cream cheese and cottage cheese,
01:46 I'm also going to add in a half a teaspoon
01:49 of crushed red pepper.
01:51 Mix this up until it's very well incorporated.
01:55 My cream cheese, I let it come to room temperature
01:58 so it would be easy to mix with my cottage cheese.
02:02 Dollop it over our meat sauce coated noodles in the dish.
02:07 Look at this.
02:10 I mean, it just looks like lasagna.
02:11 I'm gonna spread it out as best as I can.
02:14 It's okay if you get some of the noodles
02:16 and meat sauce up in this layer.
02:18 Last but not least, top it with some shredded cheddar.
02:21 I know I always say that shredding your own cheese
02:24 is the best way to go, but for something like this,
02:26 when you're just topping a casserole,
02:27 it really is fine to use pre-shredded cheese,
02:30 especially if it is the very thick shreds.
02:34 Look at this.
02:36 It's going in the oven at 375 degrees
02:38 for about 25 to 30 minutes, just until the edges are bubbly
02:41 and the cheese is nice and melted.
02:43 And here we have it, y'all.
02:48 This looks so good.
02:50 It is bubbling and the cheese is melted
02:54 and crispy on parts of the bits.
02:56 It smells amazing.
02:58 I get why they call this husband's delight
03:00 because how could you not be delighted
03:02 by meat sauce covered in cheesy noodles?
03:06 Time to dish it up.
03:08 I love getting little crispy bits of melted cheese.
03:13 Oh my gosh, look at this.
03:15 Yum.
03:17 It kind of looks like lasagna with the cheesy layer on top
03:22 and that melted cottage cheese, cream cheese layer.
03:25 All I need right now is like a big glass of red wine
03:28 and some garlic bread and a salad.
03:31 Cheesy, meaty, saucy.
03:33 Mm, mm.
03:39 Yeah, I don't even know about just husband's delight.
03:42 This is wife's delight.
03:43 This is anybody's delight.
03:44 If you're a human, this is delightful.
