State polls: DAP leaders contesting as Independents automatically sacked from party, says Loke

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said any DAP leader who contests as an Independent in the Aug 12 state polls will lose their party membership immediately. 00:13 they will lose their membership immediately.

00:16 That is the condition and also our party constitution.

00:21 So any DAP members who contest against the party as an independent candidate,

00:27 they will typically be revoked in terms of their membership.

00:32 Of course, there is one member who has already sent in his resignation letter.

00:37 David Marshall already resigned from the party,

00:40 expect him to be contesting as an independent candidate.

00:44 So once he has resigned from the party, of course, that is his right as a citizen

00:49 to contest in any election, either in any other party or as independent.

00:54 But for those who have yet to resign, but if they proceed to contest as an independent,

01:00 then definitely they will be removed in terms of their membership.
