00:00 Emily Simpson admits she did use Ozempic
00:03 to kickstart her body transformation
00:05 following season 17 of The Real Housewives of Orange County.
00:10 After being accused of using the type two diabetes medication
00:14 by fans on social media,
00:16 the reality star tells Us Weekly,
00:18 "On July 25th, we finished filming in November,
00:22 and I remember we filmed the title cards,
00:24 and our showrunner sent a photo of me
00:27 that he took with his cell phone.
00:28 And honestly, I didn't even recognize myself.
00:31 I was like, 'Who is that?'
00:33 And then I was like, 'Oh, that's me.'
00:35 I really neglected myself those four months
00:38 that we were filming.
00:39 I ate too much, drank too much,
00:41 didn't go to the gym, didn't work out,
00:43 and I felt really down, really depressed,
00:46 really dark when we finished filming."
00:48 Emily then reveals that it was during a routine appointment
00:51 that her physician suggested she take a semaglutide drug
00:55 like Ozempic or Wigovi to help curb cravings.
00:59 The 47-year-old recalls, "The doctor was just like,
01:02 'There's this new weight loss drug,
01:04 and it's just been FDA approved, and it's great.
01:07 I think it would really help you lose some weight,
01:08 and you'll feel better,
01:10 and you'll be able to get working out again
01:12 and feeling more like yourself.'
01:13 And I was like, 'Okay, sounds great.'
01:16 I did that in December.
01:17 It was great for my diet.
01:19 It really just kick-started me into eating better
01:21 and eating healthier, 'cause it makes you feel like crap,
01:24 'cause nothing tastes good."
01:26 Although she acknowledges her Ozempic use was effective,
01:29 she continues, "The thing that bothers me the most
01:32 is that when people comment on the way that I look,
01:34 they constantly say, 'Ozempic, Ozempic,'
01:37 and it's like, yes, I did use that nine months ago,
01:40 but I don't like that it discounts
01:42 all the hard work I put in.
01:43 At least give me credit for seven days a week,
01:46 getting up at 6 a.m. every morning,
01:48 and busting my butt in the gym every single day."
01:51 In the past, Emily has been candid
01:53 about her struggles with weight fluctuation.
01:55 Following knee surgery, the mother of three
01:58 underwent a major health and wellness journey in 2019.
02:01 And earlier this year, she shared her decision
02:04 to undergo lower face neck lift surgery,
02:06 plus have a breast implant removal and lift procedure
02:10 after gaining and losing more weight.
02:12 Back in February, she captioned a before and after
02:15 in part, "Just a reminder that all women are allowed
02:18 to choose what they do with their bodies
02:20 and how they would like to age,
02:21 from completely natural to surgery.
02:24 It's up to each woman."
