00:05 I'm Dr Elyn and I'm the oncologist at Bronglais Hospital in Aberystwyth and also the clinical

00:13 lead for the project to get a new unit to deliver anti-cancer therapy in Aberystwyth

00:19 for the people of Mid Wales. It's a project that has been long awaited for and it's only

00:25 through the generosity of our patients, their relatives and the general public that it's

00:31 now becoming a reality. I'm thrilled to share the news that at last we're almost at the

00:39 point of the project starting to take physical shape.

00:53 We've been so passionate about delivering this over the years and I'm thrilled that

00:57 as a team we've been able to make this a reality for our patients. They deserve the comfort,

01:05 the privacy, the dignity that the new unit will offer. Into the autumn now we will get

01:11 delivery of a ten of us unit at Bronglais Hospital so that our patients can still receive

01:17 their treatment here. A very exciting part of the project is the incorporation of Arts

01:23 in Health. This is a project where a group of us as staff and patients have come together

01:31 to think about exactly how the unit should feel, make the patient feel, how it should

01:38 look and how it should comfort those coming into the unit for the first time as well as

01:45 those returning for future treatments and a place therefore that they're not afraid

01:51 of coming back to. It's incorporating work that we've already done with patients and

01:58 very soon we'll be going out to the public to ask for further advice and work with the

02:04 public so that this is genuinely a unit that the public have funded and the public will

02:10 be able to be part of. I'm so proud to be the lead for the project because it truly

02:16 is one for the people of Mid Wales and they have made it happen.

02:20 Diolch yn fawr. Thanks to our local communities over £500,000 has been raised to transform

02:27 the current unit at Bronglais Hospital into a modern fit for the future facility.

02:34 Next steps. Our dedicated project team is progressing a detailed technical design that

02:39 will ensure the unit meets the highest standards. Once complete, the health board will go out

02:46 to tender later in the summer to appoint a contractor with the aim for building work

02:51 to begin early next year.
