Jeremy Clarkson shows how to open ‘explosive’ cider after warning some bottles could erupt

Jeremy Clarkson has demonstrated how to open and dispose of “explosive” cider from his Diddly Squat farm.  Earlier this week, Clarkson warned that some bottles of his Hawkstone cider were at risk of exploding because of a “massive cock up”.  The TV presenter has now posted a video demonstration of how to open and dispose of the over-fermented bottles. Bottles from batch L3160 should be opened carefully into a bucket of water, left to settle and the caps sent back to the farm for a refund.

00:09 First of all, check the lid. If it says L316L on it, you've got a troublesome one.

00:15 So then, you will need to put on gloves, goggles, hat and obviously our visibility jacket.

00:21 And then, you will lower the bottle very carefully, don't jiggle it around, very carefully into a tub of water.

00:33 Open it very carefully, like that, like that.

00:41 Let everything come out and then send us the bottle top so that Caleb can organise a refund for you.
