US soccer supports other nations in pay dispute - Morgan - video Dailymotion

Alex Morgan says the US women's team support the other nations fighting against the inequalities in football.

00:00 Everything where we were in 2019 to where we are now is almost the same but couldn't be more different.

00:07 We were fighting a legal battle off the field and trying to also win over the world on the field.

00:16 Win over the world's hearts and minds and prove ourselves.

00:20 This time around we don't have to worry about anything off the field.

00:25 All we have to worry about is putting the work in, doing everything we need to do from sun up to sun down

00:30 to get our bodies and our minds right for the next game in front of us.

00:33 US Soccer has done a great job in supporting us and that's not the case with a lot of the other federations around the world.

00:38 We know that so as much as we'll continue to support all of the other players around the world

00:45 who are fighting the battle that we fought for so long.

00:49 I just think that women's soccer in general has grown so much in the last four years.

00:55 The conversations that have been brought up, the questions that media are asking about equal pay.

01:00 That was not something that was going around with all teams.

01:03 It was really a focus on us so I'm really glad that there are so many other focuses on other teams

01:12 and the inequalities that the other players are facing.

01:15 But in general having this tournament be 32 teams for the first time,

01:19 I think there was a concern over the quality within the tournament.

01:23 I think that was squashed pretty quickly.

01:25 I think it just is a testament to the exponential growth of the women's game in just the last few years.

01:32 Anytime you take your focus off of playing, off of what's in front of you and what your job is,

01:42 of course that's taking focus away from what you need to be doing.

01:47 That's distractions that are unnecessary.

01:50 So not having distractions like that, like having to fight for equal pay,

01:55 equal working conditions this time moving forward at all, ever again, it feels really good.

02:01 I hope that that will soon be the case for all of the players around the world on the international level.
