00:00 At least 11 construction workers were killed on Wednesday when a wall collapsed on them
00:06 during heavy monsoon rains on the outskirts of Pakistan's capital.
00:12 A police official said the workers from a nearby construction site were inside a makeshift
00:18 tent set up under the wall to take shelter from the rain when the wall fell on them.
00:23 So far the deaths that are confirmed are 11 deaths while 5 people have been injured.
00:29 The wall collapsed due to accumulation of water.
00:32 The base of the wall got softened because of which the wall collapsed and an inquiry
00:38 will be set where we will find out as to why the construction company did not provide an
00:44 appropriate tenting or living system for the labour force.
00:48 According to the Met Office, Islamabad had received over 200mm of rainfall during the
00:54 last 24 hours amid concerns over a second wave of monsoon rains that is expected to
01:00 hit the country from Wednesday and last for several days, raising the risk of flooding
01:05 in areas still recovering from a devastating deluge last year.
