00:00 Welcome back to New Rockstars, I'm Eric Vos,
00:02 and Deadpool 3 released an official look
00:04 at Deadpool and Wolverine suited up together,
00:06 but based on where they are in these images,
00:08 along with some fight footage shared by the Daily Mail
00:11 and some other set images,
00:12 they don't seem to be trying that hard to hide.
00:14 We can draw some pretty strong implications
00:16 that Deadpool and Wolverine may be fighting
00:18 in the void of the TVA.
00:20 Warriors of timelines, pruned by the forces of Kang,
00:23 fighting for their history's rights to exist.
00:25 Now, some of these set images are pretty juicy,
00:28 so if you don't wanna watch further,
00:29 I completely understand.
00:30 The reason I'm talking about them
00:31 is that the production is clearly okay sharing images
00:34 from this day on their exterior set
00:36 with hordes of photos and videos being taken.
00:38 They clearly want the word to get out there.
00:39 Also, I think this is just gonna be a fraction
00:41 of what Marvel Studios has in store for this movie,
00:43 but either way, spoilers ahead.
00:44 Okay, along with the combat imagery
00:46 of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman,
00:47 it looks like part of this fight is taking place
00:50 outside a giant, crumbling 20th century Fox logo.
00:53 So the theories I've discussed,
00:54 that this movie might be metaphorically killing
00:56 the Fox Marvel universe's, look to be literally true.
00:59 Let's break it down.
01:00 And speaking of alternate movie universes,
01:02 check out our channel, The Deep Dive,
01:04 for my breakdowns of movies like "Jurassic Park"
01:06 and our new reaction channel, The Break Room,
01:08 where subscribers will have a chance to win a Hofsco e-bike.
01:11 Details in the description below.
01:12 Okay, this all really started on Monday
01:14 when Hugh Jackman shared the first official look of himself,
01:16 alongside Ryan Reynolds, in the Deadpool
01:18 and Wolverine suits in "Deadpool 3."
01:20 The film's official social account
01:21 shared a high-res version of the image
01:24 where you can make out some detail on these suits.
01:26 Wolverine's gloves have little slits on the knuckles,
01:28 allowing for his adamantium claws to slide through.
01:31 He wears sleeves, his jacked arms covered up,
01:33 and that's reportedly because Hugh Jackman
01:35 has had some cases of skin cancer
01:36 and they don't wanna risk exposing so much skin,
01:38 which is completely understandable.
01:40 Protect this man at all costs.
01:41 But hey, maybe there are also some scenes
01:43 shot on a soundstage where the sleeves can get ripped off.
01:45 Deadpool, meanwhile, has a little Deadpool face
01:47 snuck in on the belt buckle.
01:49 And then video from the set, shared by the Daily Mail,
01:51 includes a fight between Deadpool and Wolverine.
01:53 It looks like it started as an argument.
01:55 Wolverine, unmasked, walks away,
01:56 and Deadpool points at his back, saying something insulting,
01:59 and then Deadpool turns back toward the camera
02:00 and Wolverine charges up behind him
02:02 and stabs him through the back.
02:03 Deadpool looks down at what are sure to be
02:04 six adamantium claws poking through his midsection.
02:07 We also see a separate setup,
02:08 which will probably be joined with this,
02:10 of Wolverine going from that backstab position
02:12 to lift Deadpool up in the air.
02:13 We only see the wire work of the initial maneuver,
02:15 but who knows, maybe he's gonna end up
02:17 ripping Deadpool in half.
02:18 There's also footage of Wolverine
02:19 throwing Deadpool through a wall
02:20 and tossing something at him,
02:22 maybe one of his severed limbs,
02:23 and behind that wall is a massive 20th century Fox logo.
02:27 Whoa!
02:28 So the reason I think this is the void, the TVA,
02:31 and he remains dumping ground in "Loki,"
02:33 is everything else surrounding him.
02:34 Like, notice there's a rocket,
02:36 there's a stern of a large vessel,
02:38 and there's the wreckage of an airship
02:39 that I'm pretty sure is the Hindenburg.
02:41 The rocket might be an ICBM or a booster
02:43 used in one of the Apollo missions
02:44 or in a Soviet space mission,
02:46 like the one that sent poor Cosmo up into space.
02:48 That vessel could be anything, really.
02:50 It looks too small to be the Titanic,
02:52 but in "Loki," we did see the pruned variant
02:54 of the USS Eldridge, the World War II destroyer
02:57 that has been linked with various conspiracy theories
02:59 over the decades.
02:59 But the point is, the void is the location in the MCU
03:02 where random chunks of alternate histories
03:04 get sent to when the TVA decides to erase them.
03:07 Now, the 20th century Fox logo
03:08 would be an extra layer of meta
03:10 that we didn't really see in "Loki,"
03:11 other than the Thanos copter.
03:13 That was pretty ridiculous.
03:14 But since "She-Hulk," the Marvel multiverse
03:15 now exists in a meta framework
03:17 in which these studios, their LA-based studio lots,
03:20 and even their studio iconography
03:21 can all be interacted with by these Marvel heroes.
03:24 Since "She-Hulk" Jennifer Walters
03:25 lives in a reality controlled by Kevin,
03:27 the robot hidden on Disney's Burbank Studio lot vault,
03:30 the 20th century Fox logo,
03:32 which depicts the LA basin from the other side of the hill
03:34 from "Century City," is also fair game
03:36 to appear as a prop in these movies.

04:41 Now when She-Hulk ended,
04:42 I did make videos trying to reconcile Kevin
04:44 within a power hierarchy along with Kang and the TVA.
04:47 And one way to explain it is that Kevin
04:48 might be a form of technology constructed by Kang
04:51 in a smoke screen reality designed specifically for She-Hulk,
04:53 something she would understand.
04:55 A projection the way Miss Minutes is a weird projection.
04:57 Really it depends on whether Marvel Studios
04:59 is gonna entrust their narrative to Loki season two
05:01 and the TVA logic it sets up for Deadpool three
05:04 and Avengers King Dynasty and Secret Wars
05:06 or a series like She-Hulk that Bob Iger
05:08 is now heavily implying.
05:09 Eh, maybe we shouldn't have made this.
05:10 I think the obvious joke here
05:12 is that part of the TVA's mission
05:13 will be to prune the sacred timeline
05:15 so that Fox Studios and its various Marvel properties
05:18 never existed.
05:19 And that would include the Hugh Jackman X-Men,
05:21 Ben Affleck Daredevil and Jennifer Gardner Electra.
05:24 And Gardner was just confirmed to be in this film too
05:26 last week.
05:27 And then yeah, maybe the Fantastic Four.
05:29 The argument being that Johnny Storm in that universe
05:31 just looks a little too similar
05:32 to Steve Rogers in this universe.
05:33 The whole movie could be kind of a
05:35 Who Framed Roger Rabbit meta commentary
05:36 on studio franchise realignment, retcons and erasures.
05:39 But instead of the dip, we have the void,
05:42 an island of misfit toys where when Deadpool
05:44 runs afoul of the TVA after Wade uses
05:46 Cable's time travel wristwatch to fix timelines
05:48 in the Deadpool 2 post-credits sequence,
05:50 Deadpool would get pruned alongside several other X-Men
05:53 from these errant timelines.
05:54 And that the two regenerative mutants would fight it out
05:57 after Deadpool just couldn't help running his mouth.
06:00 And the fact that this fight seems to be happening
06:02 actually on the 20th Century Fox logo
06:04 is just an insane meta literalization
06:07 of the fact that when Disney bought Fox in 2018,
06:09 they started insisting the classic logo, Remove Fox,
06:12 and just go by 20th Century.
06:14 Is it a little too on the nose?
06:15 No, I don't think so.
06:16 Not for Deadpool, who breaks the fourth wall constantly
06:19 and references the history of the MCU
06:21 in the X-Men franchise.
06:22 But rather than verbal ad-libs from Ryan Reynolds,
06:24 in this case, I love that they actually constructed
06:26 a massive visual for these heroes
06:28 to use as a fighting ground.
06:30 They didn't do it with VFX,
06:31 they didn't do it with the volume,
06:32 these madmen actually built it.
06:34 And that's exactly what Marvel Studios films
06:36 need to do more of.
06:37 And part of the reason for this approach
06:38 might be connected to the labor union strikes
06:40 currently impacting the TV and film industry.
06:42 Deadpool 3 production was being rushed,
06:44 despite the Writers Guild being on strike since early May,
06:46 with Ryan Reynolds being prohibited from ad-libbing
06:49 as that would constitute writing.
06:50 But now, as of Thursday, the actors union,
06:52 SAG-AFTRA, is now on strike too,
06:54 which means production for Deadpool 3 has to shut down.
06:58 No actors on set.
06:59 In fact, that July 12th strike deadline
07:01 might be why we're even seeing this imagery.
07:03 Both so the production can say,
07:04 "Hey, this film is still happening, don't worry,"
07:06 and the rush into the set construction
07:07 so they can shoot on it
07:08 before Reynolds and Jackman would have to strike.
07:10 Yeah, that could also be part of it too.
07:11 But yeah, these strikes are a huge deal, folks.
07:13 And to be clear, we stand with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA
07:16 to get the working conditions, the fair wages,
07:18 and the protections against AI replacement
07:20 that these artists deserve.
07:22 My recent investigations on the Deep Dive channel
07:24 talk about the dangers of AI
07:25 and Hollywood using digital scans of actors to exploit them.
07:28 It's messed up.
07:29 So check out those for why these issues are so important.
07:31 And let me know in the comments below
07:32 what you think we're gonna see in Deadpool 3.
