00:00:00 Acts chapter one, Acts chapter one, Acts chapter one today.
00:00:04 I want to read two passages.
00:00:05 I want to read one passage from Acts chapter one, verse eight.
00:00:09 Then I want to read one passage from Acts chapter two, verse four, verse four.
00:00:14 Verse number eight of Acts chapter one, I'm reading from the NLT.
00:00:19 It says, but you shall receive power.
00:00:23 Let the church out power
00:00:26 when the Holy Spirit comes on you,
00:00:29 when the Holy Spirit comes on you, what will you receive? Power.
00:00:33 And you will be my witnesses
00:00:36 and you will tell people about me everywhere.
00:00:40 You'll start in Jerusalem.
00:00:43 You'll go throughout Judea.
00:00:45 You'll go to Samaria and you'll keep going till you get to the ends of the earth.
00:00:51 And then Acts chapter two.
00:00:55 I'm going to read verse one and four.
00:00:57 Verse one says on the day of Pentecost, what day was it?
00:01:01 Yeah, that day of all the believers
00:01:05 were meeting together in one place.
00:01:08 Verse four says, and everyone present was filled with the Holy Spirit
00:01:15 and they began speaking in other languages
00:01:20 as the Holy Spirit gave them the ability.
00:01:27 Everyone was filled with the Holy Spirit.
00:01:31 And for a few minutes today, I want to preach from this subject matter.
00:01:35 Everybody is full of something.
00:01:39 Will you tell people around you what the title of the day's message is?
00:01:46 Everybody is full of something.
00:01:49 And this is a good chance for you to ask somebody, what be thou full of?
00:01:56 Because everybody is full of something.
00:01:59 Usher's, you may readjust.
00:02:01 Will you help me thank God for the Pentecost ushers?
00:02:04 Amen. Amen. Job.
00:02:07 Well done. Job. Well done. Job.
00:02:10 Well done.
00:02:12 Title of the day's message is everybody
00:02:17 is full of something.
00:02:21 And at the beginning of this message, I want to share with you.
00:02:25 I want to share with you.
00:02:26 I want to share with you
00:02:30 the filling options for every believer,
00:02:33 the filling options for all believers,
00:02:36 because remember, everybody is full of something.
00:02:39 Put them on the screen for you.
00:02:42 Number one, you can be full of self.
00:02:44 You ever met somebody full of self?
00:02:49 Somebody full of self, all they do is talk about themselves.
00:02:55 When you're talking with them, everything is centered around them.
00:02:58 And even when you try to get a word in,
00:03:02 they come back and say that ain't nothing.
00:03:05 One time I. You can be full of self.
00:03:10 Number two, you can be full of sin.
00:03:12 You can be full of sin, full of sin, full of sin.
00:03:16 There are scriptures there for you to look at.
00:03:18 Full of self.
00:03:20 Second Chronicles chapter 26, verse 16,
00:03:23 full of sin, Ezekiel chapter nine, verse nine.
00:03:27 And then finally, you can be full of the spirit.
00:03:32 You can be full of the spirit.
00:03:35 Acts chapter seven, verse fifty five.
00:03:38 You can be full of the spirit.
00:03:41 We're talking about the Holy Spirit, the Holy Spirit.
00:03:45 You can be full of the spirit.
00:03:48 Now, be careful what you're full of.
00:03:51 Because each feeling leads somewhere.
00:03:55 Being full of self leads to arrogance.
00:04:01 Least the arrogance being full of self,
00:04:05 being full of sin leads to disobedience, disobedience.
00:04:10 When you're full of sin, you disobey God, you disobey God.
00:04:16 But then when you're full of the spirit,
00:04:18 it leads to reliance slash assistance.
00:04:23 Reliance means when you're full of the spirit,
00:04:26 you depend on the spirit of God
00:04:29 to help you do what you can't do all by yourself.
00:04:33 And the assistance is God will give you the tools
00:04:39 and the resources and everything needed
00:04:44 to get you from point A to point B.
00:04:47 Would you check again with somebody around you and say, what be thou full of?
00:04:51 You can be full of self.
00:04:56 You can be full of sin.
00:04:59 And you can be.
00:05:01 Full of the spirit of God.
00:05:03 And in Acts, chapter two, verse four.
00:05:07 It says everybody present was filled
00:05:12 with the Holy Spirit.
00:05:14 Was that chapter two, verse four, says everybody present was filled
00:05:18 with the Holy Spirit.
00:05:20 Now, those you have a King James Bible, it says they were filled
00:05:23 with the Holy Ghost.
00:05:25 Holy Ghost and the Holy Spirit are both the same.
00:05:28 Don't you argue with folks and say, I got the ghost, you got the spirit.
00:05:33 I wonder if either of you got anything.
00:05:37 Hey, man, I want to talk today.
00:05:39 I want to talk today.
00:05:40 I want to talk today about being filled with the Holy Spirit.
00:05:43 Look at look at look at look at Acts, chapter one,
00:05:46 verse number four, Acts, chapter one, verse number four.
00:05:50 Acts, chapter one, verse number four says.
00:05:53 One day, Jesus was eating with his disciples
00:05:59 and he commanded him, do not leave Jerusalem, do not leave Jerusalem.
00:06:04 Until the father sends you the gift, he promised.
00:06:08 Now make note, the gift he promised was the Holy Spirit.
00:06:11 He says, as I told you before, John baptized you with what?
00:06:17 John baptized you with what? With water.
00:06:20 He says, but in a few days, you're going to be baptized with.
00:06:24 The Holy Spirit.
00:06:27 Do you see two different baptisms there?
00:06:30 He says, John baptized you with water.
00:06:34 He says, but in a few days, in a few days,
00:06:37 you're going to be baptized with.
00:06:40 The Holy Spirit.
00:06:43 There are two baptisms there.
00:06:45 There's the baptism by water, and then there's the baptism
00:06:49 with or in the Holy Spirit.
00:06:52 Now, hear me.
00:06:54 This is a very sensitive topic.
00:06:57 This is a very delicate topic,
00:06:59 because when you start talking about being baptized with or in the Holy Spirit,
00:07:05 there are a lot of different teachings
00:07:08 and there are a lot of different believers
00:07:12 who can't reach the place of unity.
00:07:15 And I want you to know when it comes to different topics
00:07:20 and subjects and doctrines in the Bible.
00:07:23 That it's OK if we all don't see it the same.
00:07:30 As long as we all come in agreement
00:07:35 that you can't be saved without Jesus.
00:07:39 I just want you to listen to that.
00:07:42 That's why we did all that singing and shouting and dancing before,
00:07:45 because I'm just talking to you just like this the rest of the time.
00:07:48 The one thing we all have to be unified on.
00:07:54 Is you can't be saved.
00:07:58 Without Jesus.
00:08:00 There'll be stuff all throughout the Bible
00:08:04 that we see different.
00:08:07 And God is OK with that.
00:08:10 God is God.
00:08:11 God is OK with us discussing it.
00:08:14 God is OK with us disagreeing about it.
00:08:19 But God is not OK when we let it divide us.
00:08:24 Did you hear what I said?
00:08:27 We can discuss it.
00:08:28 We can even disagree.
00:08:30 But when it divides us
00:08:33 and when you start talking about the Holy Spirit, the Holy Ghost
00:08:36 and the baptism with and the baptism, you'll be surprised
00:08:41 how many believers have fallen out.
00:08:43 How many churches no longer fellowship with one another?
00:08:48 Because they become divided on this subject.
00:08:52 I want to give you three baptisms, three baptisms
00:08:56 that we clearly see in the New Testament,
00:08:59 three baptisms that we clearly see, we clearly see.
00:09:03 In the New Testament.
00:09:06 Here's number one.
00:09:08 The spirit.
00:09:09 Baptizes believers in the body of Christ,
00:09:13 the spirit, I'll let you go back and read these.
00:09:16 But in First Corinthians, chapter 12, verse number 13,
00:09:20 it clearly says that when a man or a woman accepts
00:09:25 Christ as their personal savior, the Holy Spirit baptizes them,
00:09:30 baptizes them, blends them in the body of Christ.
00:09:35 Will you make note that this is the baptism of the spirit,
00:09:42 the baptism of the spirit?
00:09:46 All right. Here's number two.
00:09:47 Here's number two.
00:09:48 Number one, the spirit baptized believers in the body of Christ
00:09:51 that takes place at conversion, that takes place
00:09:54 as soon as I accept Christ as my personal savior.
00:09:56 Here's number two.
00:09:58 The saints, the saints, when I say saints, that's a Christian.
00:10:03 That's a disciple.
00:10:04 That's somebody who knows the Lord.
00:10:06 The saints baptize believers in the water.
00:10:09 In the water.
00:10:13 Who does the first baptism?
00:10:14 Who does the first baptism?
00:10:15 The spirit and the spirit baptizes us what?
00:10:19 In the body of Christ.
00:10:22 Everybody who's a Christian is in the body of Christ.
00:10:24 But then the saints baptize believers in the water.
00:10:29 How many of you after you accepted Christ?
00:10:33 You were baptized in the water.
00:10:36 You were sprinkled by water.
00:10:40 You were baptized in the river.
00:10:43 You were baptized in the shower.
00:10:45 Come on, you got.
00:10:46 That's the second, that's the second, that's the second.
00:10:50 And here's the third.
00:10:51 Here's the third one.
00:10:52 You got to catch this.
00:10:53 Put up number three.
00:10:55 The same.
00:10:56 Baptizes believers in the Holy Spirit.
00:11:01 The same here.
00:11:04 Who does the first one?
00:11:05 Who does the first one?
00:11:07 The spirit.
00:11:08 Who does the second?
00:11:09 Saints. And who does the third one?
00:11:12 Now, here's where the controversy comes in, Jacob.
00:11:17 There are many Christians who believe
00:11:20 that number one and number three are the same.
00:11:23 They believe that once you are baptized by the spirit
00:11:29 into the body of Christ.
00:11:32 That, too, is the baptism with the Holy Spirit,
00:11:36 the baptism in the spirit.
00:11:39 But then there are those who believe that is separate.
00:11:42 It's a separate work.
00:11:43 It's a separate work.
00:11:45 It can take place at salvation.
00:11:48 But it also can take place after salvation.
00:11:52 Here at Berean, we believe they are separate.
00:11:56 They are set.
00:11:57 We believe that there's the baptism of the spirit,
00:12:00 and we believe that there's the baptism with or in the spirit.
00:12:04 Tell you what, tell you why I think that I believe that they're different
00:12:07 because the subject is different.
00:12:11 Number one, the spirit baptizes.
00:12:14 Number two, the savior baptizes.
00:12:20 They're separate.
00:12:21 And until we get to heaven, until we get to heaven,
00:12:24 there'll be disagreement about this.
00:12:27 But here's what you will discover.
00:12:29 Even the people that disagree about the baptism of at salvation
00:12:35 and the baptism in or the baptism with by Jesus after salvation.
00:12:40 Pretty much we all agree.
00:12:44 That there's something called the feeling of the spirit.
00:12:48 The feeling, for the most part, everyone agrees
00:12:52 that there is something called being filled with the Holy Ghost.
00:12:58 And for a lot of people in church, based off of your tradition,
00:13:03 this is an uncomfortable conversation.
00:13:06 And many times it's uncomfortable.
00:13:11 And you didn't even want to hear nothing about Pentecost
00:13:14 because you met some crazy Pentecostals.
00:13:17 And when they told you the stuff that the Holy Ghost
00:13:25 being full of him makes them do.
00:13:29 It calls you to say, I don't want that.
00:13:33 I don't want that. Come on.
00:13:36 You've seen people run around the church.
00:13:40 You've seen people knock down slain in the spirit.
00:13:44 You've seen people speaking in other tongues excessively.
00:13:48 You've seen people all out of control and you'd be like,
00:13:51 no, I'm good with half the spirit.
00:13:55 And today I want to.
00:14:04 Open you up.
00:14:06 To be receptive.
00:14:09 To be in field.
00:14:12 With the Holy Spirit.
00:14:14 What?
00:14:16 Because the Bible says in Acts chapter two, verse one,
00:14:19 on the day of Pentecost, on the day of Pentecost,
00:14:23 Pentecost was a religious festival in the Old Testament
00:14:27 that was called the Feast of Weeks.
00:14:29 It took place 50 days after Passover.
00:14:35 There were three major festivals, three major festivals
00:14:38 in the Old Testament.
00:14:40 I'm going to put them up on the screen for you.
00:14:41 Three major festivals.
00:14:42 And they all have correlation, correlation.
00:14:46 To the New Testament.
00:14:49 Put up the first put up the first put up first.
00:14:53 Feast of Passover.
00:14:55 Represents the death of Jesus.
00:14:57 When Jesus died on the cross, he died
00:15:01 during the season of Passover.
00:15:04 Passover.
00:15:05 That's what Passover represents, the death of Jesus.
00:15:09 Deuteronomy chapter 16, verse one.
00:15:13 Here's number two.
00:15:14 Here's number two.
00:15:15 The Feast of Firstfruits.
00:15:18 The Feast of Firstfruits.
00:15:19 Some some some of you have a Bible that says
00:15:21 the Feast of the First Harvest.
00:15:24 It represents the resurrection of Jesus.
00:15:28 So Jesus died on Passover,
00:15:31 but he got up.
00:15:34 On firstfruits.
00:15:36 That's why Jesus says, I am the first fruit of all who believe.
00:15:41 But seek ye first.
00:15:45 The kingdom of God and his rising.
00:15:48 It's resurrection.
00:15:49 And then the Feast of Weeks.
00:15:52 Which is also called Pentecost.
00:15:54 It represents the outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
00:15:58 It's the day the Holy Spirit fell
00:16:02 and the birth of the church began.
00:16:04 And that's where we are today.
00:16:07 It was 50 days after Passover.
00:16:10 But in the day in which we live, Pentecost Sunday
00:16:14 is always 50 days after.
00:16:17 Resurrection Sunday.
00:16:20 50 days after Resurrection Sunday.
00:16:23 And I want to take you back.
00:16:25 I want to take you back to what took place,
00:16:28 what took place before the day of Pentecost
00:16:31 and on the day of Pentecost and share with you how you and I,
00:16:35 you and I should desire to be full of the Holy Spirit.
00:16:41 All right. Grab your outline.
00:16:42 Let me get answers here.
00:16:43 Let me get answers. I'm soon done. I'm soon done.
00:16:46 Will you make note Acts chapter one?
00:16:51 Shares communication about the Holy Spirit.
00:16:57 But Acts chapter two shares manifestations
00:17:02 of the Holy Spirit.
00:17:05 So in Acts chapter one, Jesus is talking about what's going to happen.
00:17:09 And in Acts chapter two, guess what?
00:17:12 You see it happen.
00:17:14 You see it happen.
00:17:16 All right. Grab your outline. Let me give you this breakdown.
00:17:18 Number one, the prologue, the prologue to the believers.
00:17:22 Luke is the writer of the book of Acts.
00:17:26 He's also the writer of the book of Luke.
00:17:28 And the word prologue means.
00:17:30 Introduction.
00:17:33 So in verses one through three, guess what Luke does?
00:17:36 He gives an introduction to his book, an introduction to the book of Acts.
00:17:41 And then verses four through eight.
00:17:43 Make note of this. The promise for the believers.
00:17:46 The promise for the believers.
00:17:50 The promise for. And guess what that promise was.
00:17:53 The Holy Spirit is coming.
00:17:56 Wait for wait for wait for.
00:17:58 Remember way back in John chapter 16, Jesus says, I'm going to be leaving,
00:18:04 but I'm going to leave a comforter with you.
00:18:07 He was talking about the Holy Spirit.
00:18:09 He was talking about the Holy Spirit, talking about the Holy Spirit.
00:18:12 And then here's finally the prayer about the believers.
00:18:15 Verses nine through 14.
00:18:17 The prayer about the believers.
00:18:20 I want to walk you through this quickly and I'll come back and give you these answers.
00:18:25 But chapter one helps you better grabs chapter number two.
00:18:29 Let's start with verse one.
00:18:32 Luke says in my first book, you know what he's talking about here, the book of Luke.
00:18:36 I told you, Theophilus, Theophilus is the person that he's writing to.
00:18:43 Theophilus lets us know there were blacks in the Bible.
00:18:47 Come on now.
00:18:49 You don't know no European Theophilus.
00:18:54 And they called him Theo.
00:18:56 Come on now.
00:18:57 In the Greek, Theophilus means lover of God, lover of God.
00:19:03 So Luke is writing this to a person who was a lover of God.
00:19:06 He says in my first book, which was the book of Luke.
00:19:09 I told you everything Jesus began to do and what teach.
00:19:15 He's talking about Jesus's ministry.
00:19:18 He said, my first book, I focused on what Jesus began to do and teach.
00:19:22 And I wrote all the way up until the day he was taken up to heaven
00:19:26 after giving his chosen apostles further instructions through the Holy Spirit.
00:19:32 If you go back and read the last chapter of Luke, chapter 24,
00:19:35 Luke, chapter 24 and Acts, chapter one are a perfect match, a perfect match.
00:19:41 Look at what he says during the 40 days after he suffered and die.
00:19:45 During the 40 days after he suffered and die, you know what this means, Floyd?
00:19:49 This means that after Jesus got up from the grave,
00:19:54 he stayed on earth 40 days.
00:19:57 And he appeared to the apostles.
00:20:00 Look at him, Miss Arrington.
00:20:02 During those 40 days, he appeared to the apostles.
00:20:05 What? From time to time,
00:20:08 he was on earth for 40 days after he got up from the grave
00:20:12 and he only spent time with believers.
00:20:16 Man, that blows me away, Daryl.
00:20:18 That blows me away, Miguel, that blows me away
00:20:21 because Jesus knew his time was short.
00:20:24 And when your time is short,
00:20:27 you don't waste it with folks that ain't about nothing.
00:20:30 See, what has hurt you and I is we haven't recognized our time is short.
00:20:37 And Jesus, Jesus Jameson, during those 40 days,
00:20:43 he only spent time with believers.
00:20:47 If that had been you and I, come on, they killed us 40 days ago
00:20:52 and we got 40 days left, we would appear to somebody that was there lying on us.
00:20:57 We'd appear to somebody and we would have said, Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey.
00:21:02 Back then, y'all didn't want me.
00:21:06 Now I'm up, y'all up on me.
00:21:09 Started on the bottom, now I'm here.
00:21:14 Yeah, because all I do is win, win, no matter what, what
00:21:19 we would have gone to somebody.
00:21:22 He didn't do that.
00:21:24 Could God be saying, quit spending time with people?
00:21:28 That do nothing but waste your time.
00:21:31 40 days, he was with the apostles 40 days
00:21:37 and he talked with them, look at it, Attorney Clair.
00:21:41 While he was with them, he talked to them about what?
00:21:44 The kingdom of God.
00:21:46 Look at what Jesus is talking about during those 40 days.
00:21:49 He not talking about politics.
00:21:52 He not talking about sports.
00:21:55 He's not talking about global climate.
00:21:57 He's not talking about whether they're going to get this thing right
00:22:01 with the Republicans and the Democrats as it relates to this tax thing.
00:22:05 He's talking about the kingdom of God.
00:22:09 The kingdom of God.
00:22:12 That's a prologue.
00:22:13 And then look what he says.
00:22:15 Verse four. One day while he was eating, this is doing that 40 day period.
00:22:20 He commanded them.
00:22:23 Don't leave Jerusalem.
00:22:25 These are Jesus's last words, verse four and verse eight.
00:22:28 He says, Don't leave Jerusalem until the father sends you the gift he promised.
00:22:33 Now, what's the gift he promised?
00:22:34 What's the gift he promised?
00:22:35 It's the Holy Spirit.
00:22:36 He says, Don't leave Jerusalem.
00:22:39 Now, many of us think Jesus's last words are the Great Commission
00:22:42 because Matthew and Mark says that Jesus's last words was,
00:22:46 Go ye therefore and teach all nations.
00:22:49 But Jesus's last words, according to Luke, not go, but stay.
00:22:54 He says, because if you don't stay and get this power,
00:22:59 when you go, you won't be effective.
00:23:01 And too many people are going without the power
00:23:07 and wondering why they are not effective.
00:23:11 He says, stay, stay.
00:23:15 He says, stay here in Jerusalem till you get the gift.
00:23:19 He promised that I told you before.
00:23:22 If I had time, I'll show you where John talked about it
00:23:26 in Matthew, Mark, Luke and John.
00:23:29 We'll come back and visit this.
00:23:30 We can't cover it all today.
00:23:32 But in Matthew, Mark and John, Jesus says this.
00:23:36 I baptize you with water.
00:23:39 That's water baptism.
00:23:41 He said, but there's one coming after me.
00:23:43 That's going to baptize you.
00:23:48 With the spirit.
00:23:50 And when Matt, when John the Baptist said that,
00:23:54 John wasn't talking to the disciples.
00:23:58 Because Jesus hadn't even called his disciples yet.
00:24:02 He was just talking to the nation of Israel.
00:24:05 He was just talking to all of those who were around.
00:24:07 That's why you can say the baptism with the spirit
00:24:11 and in the spirit is just for a select group of people.
00:24:14 It's for everybody.
00:24:19 And Jesus said, Jesus said, Jesus said, you stay, you stay,
00:24:22 you stay, you stay, you stay, you stay.
00:24:24 John baptized with water.
00:24:25 He says, but in a few days.
00:24:29 You're going to be baptized, what? With.
00:24:31 The Holy Spirit.
00:24:34 And this is the baptism John said that Jesus was going to do.
00:24:37 And then look what he says in verse.
00:24:40 He says, and you're going to get power.
00:24:44 You're going to get power.
00:24:46 When the Holy Spirit comes.
00:24:50 And you're going to be my witnesses
00:24:51 and you're going to tell people about me everywhere in Jerusalem,
00:24:54 throughout Judea, Samaria and to the uttermost parts of the world.
00:24:59 Wait for. Watch this.
00:25:03 And they waited 10 days.
00:25:06 On the 50th day, that's what Pentecost means, 50.
00:25:10 Jesus left on day 40 and 10 days later,
00:25:13 they didn't know it was going to be 10 days,
00:25:15 they didn't know it was going to be 10 days.
00:25:17 They just knew he said, wait.
00:25:18 And one of the hardest things to do.
00:25:22 Oh, now you want to help me on now, you want to help me.
00:25:24 You ain't said nothing for the first eight minutes, but.
00:25:27 One of the hardest things to do.
00:25:31 Is the way to move.
00:25:33 And 10 days later.
00:25:35 And I accept that to the Holy Spirit.
00:25:39 Who, who, who, who?
00:25:41 Did I give you number three?
00:25:43 I gave you number three.
00:25:44 I gave you that. I gave you that.
00:25:46 All right. I gave you. OK. All right.
00:25:47 I want I want I want to show you that because I want to say this first.
00:25:50 And give me about 10 minutes and I'll be done.
00:25:53 11, 12, 13 minutes. I'll be done.
00:25:55 14, 15, I'll be done. I'll be done.
00:25:58 But for the barbecue tomorrow, I'll be done. All right.
00:26:01 All right. All right. Hey, hey.
00:26:05 But 10 days there was no God.
00:26:07 No Jesus on the earth.
00:26:11 And the Holy Spirit had not come.
00:26:15 When Jesus went back on the cloud.
00:26:18 God, what? No.
00:26:22 Jesus went on the earth and the Holy Spirit hadn't come.
00:26:27 Satan missed his chance.
00:26:30 If there was any time
00:26:34 Satan could have took over.
00:26:37 It was that 10 day period.
00:26:42 No God, no Jesus, and the Holy Spirit hadn't come.
00:26:46 Because remember, in the Old Testament, the Holy Ghost was above you.
00:26:54 In Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, the Holy Spirit was not above you.
00:26:58 The Holy Spirit was around you.
00:27:00 But from Acts till today, the Holy Spirit is not above and around.
00:27:07 He's abiding.
00:27:10 Look at somebody tell him I got power in here, I got power.
00:27:13 Come on, tell him, look at me.
00:27:16 I said I got power.
00:27:19 Oh, you got to get this.
00:27:23 You got to get this. You got to get this.
00:27:25 So how is it that the devil missed his chance?
00:27:28 It's in verse 14 of chapter one.
00:27:31 Jesus told him, go back to Jerusalem and wait.
00:27:35 Go back to Jerusalem and wait.
00:27:39 Put a verse 12, then the apostles returned to Jerusalem.
00:27:42 From the Mount of Olives, because they were about a half mile away.
00:27:46 And when they arrived, they went upstairs to the room.
00:27:50 Some of you have a Bible, say the upper room is not the same upper room
00:27:53 of when Jesus, you know, did the Lord's Supper.
00:27:57 Just a room that was upstairs.
00:27:59 And then look what verse 13 says.
00:28:02 Here are the names of the people who were there.
00:28:04 Eleven of the disciples who are now apostles,
00:28:08 Judas is not there because he killed himself.
00:28:11 Verse 14 says they all met together
00:28:14 and were constantly united in prayer.
00:28:18 So for 10 days, what were they focusing on?
00:28:23 And prayer kept them.
00:28:28 And you need to know prayer can keep you.
00:28:30 Do I have any witnesses here that prayer can get you out of some rough spots?
00:28:37 Prayer can see you through a jam.
00:28:39 Prayer can help you deal with some stuff you never thought.
00:28:45 They were all united.
00:28:47 They were all united and committed.
00:28:49 The prayer.
00:28:52 Denise, can I show you verse 14?
00:28:54 They all met together, constantly united in prayer, along with Mary, the mother of Jesus.
00:28:59 This is the last time we see Jesus's mother in the Bible.
00:29:03 And the last time we see her, guess what she's doing?
00:29:06 Pray.
00:29:07 Pray.
00:29:10 Was it Helen Daner said, but I had a praying mama.
00:29:14 Oh, that song she sang about all the trouble she was in,
00:29:18 but then her mama prayed for us.
00:29:21 And not only was Mary, Jesus's mother there, but some of Jesus's brothers were there.
00:29:26 I wish I had time to show you
00:29:29 that Jesus's brothers didn't believe in him while he was alive.
00:29:33 But after he rose from the grave, they accepted him.
00:29:41 Which suggests some of your family.
00:29:43 Won't see the real you till you go.
00:29:50 And then look at verse 15, during that time, it was 120.
00:29:58 120.
00:30:01 So by the time Jesus went back to heaven, he had 120 followers.
00:30:05 And they were all together in prayer.
00:30:10 And then come over to chapter two, let's wrap this up.
00:30:13 On the day of Pentecost, 10 days later.
00:30:17 All the believers were meeting together in one place.
00:30:21 Do you see unity among this group?
00:30:24 Because it keeps saying they're what they're together and they're in one place.
00:30:28 King James says they would want a core.
00:30:30 There's a shameless plug, but it fits.
00:30:34 So I'm going to put it right here.
00:30:37 The 120 were all together, unified.
00:30:40 Which means there were different generations
00:30:44 and they all had on a generational color.
00:30:47 So somebody what I'm talking about, take out your flyer,
00:30:56 say this what he's talking about right here,
00:30:58 because some of y'all just got here, you don't know what I'm talking about.
00:31:01 They all had on a generational color.
00:31:06 And then verse two said, all of a sudden there was a sound from heaven
00:31:12 like a roaring, mighty Russian wind, and it filled a house where they were sitting.
00:31:17 Then what looked like flames of tongue or tongues of fire,
00:31:22 it appeared and settled on each of them.
00:31:25 And everybody present was what?
00:31:30 Feel. And again, speaking.
00:31:34 In other tongues, the King James says.
00:31:38 And other language as the spirit and able.
00:31:42 They waited. They waited.
00:31:47 And as a result of weight.
00:31:51 The Lord feel dumb.
00:31:54 And I bet I'm preaching to somebody here today.
00:31:59 You've been missing your feelings.
00:32:02 You've been missing your baptism with your baptism in
00:32:05 because you so in a hurry to do everything without the power of God.
00:32:10 And whether you call it the baptism with whether you call it the baptism
00:32:16 in or whether you call it filled with the Holy Spirit,
00:32:20 the bottom line, something happened.
00:32:27 And I want to show you why, why you and I do want to be filled with the spirit.
00:32:32 All right. Last three things, I'm going to tell you, grab your paper.
00:32:34 Grab your paper.
00:32:37 Tell somebody he sure got a lot today.
00:32:41 But there's good stuff in there.
00:32:44 Come on now, no play with this good stuff now.
00:32:46 Here it is.
00:32:50 Being full of the Holy Spirit brings empowerment to you as a believer.
00:32:56 That's why we ought to want to be filled with the Holy Spirit,
00:32:59 because he empowers us.
00:33:01 He empowers us.
00:33:04 Look at it right here.
00:33:05 I got it, Paul, but you shall receive power.
00:33:08 That's chapter one, verse four.
00:33:10 You shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you.
00:33:13 And then right next to that, I accept the two verse for it happened.
00:33:17 They got power.
00:33:19 And what do you and I need power to do in life?
00:33:24 There you go. Everything I know you're rushing me, everything.
00:33:26 If it was 20 minutes early, you'd be saying,
00:33:32 power to raise our children, power, power, the word, everything, Reverend.
00:33:37 Get the number to everything.
00:33:42 You ought to be glad I'm in a good mood today.
00:33:46 Can't get mad with the members a week before your anniversary.
00:33:50 Number two.
00:33:54 Let's get over this thing.
00:33:55 Here we go.
00:33:56 Number one, being full of the Holy Spirit brings what? Empowerment.
00:34:00 Number two, being full of the Holy Spirit brings enlightenment to you as a believer.
00:34:05 Enlightenment.
00:34:09 Enlightenment.
00:34:11 Look what he says, not only we receive power, he says,
00:34:15 but you will be my witnesses telling people about me.
00:34:23 He says the light is going to come on.
00:34:25 You ever met somebody and have to talk with them?
00:34:26 You can tell the light ain't on.
00:34:28 Come on, you get that, that's happened.
00:34:33 That's the need you see.
00:34:34 They love that something, something happened.
00:34:36 The elevator don't go.
00:34:39 There was a man in America for the first time, he lived in a rural,
00:34:48 another country, another country, another country,
00:34:52 and came to America and went to a hotel.
00:34:55 And he saw an elevator for the first time.
00:34:58 He was standing right next to his son, saw an elevator.
00:35:00 And he saw an older lady get on the elevator.
00:35:04 He didn't know what the elevator was.
00:35:06 He saw this older lady get on the elevator.
00:35:09 And then the elevator came back down, he saw a young lady get off the elevator.
00:35:12 And his son said, Dad, what is that?
00:35:18 He said, I don't know, but go get your mama.
00:35:22 [Laughter]
00:35:27 Boy, that one went over your head, right?
00:35:29 [Laughter]
00:35:31 Come on, come on.
00:35:33 He thought it would work for this older lady.
00:35:35 He said, come here, baby, get on right here.
00:35:39 [Laughter]
00:35:44 Bad joke, pastor, bad joke.
00:35:45 Enlightenment.
00:35:51 Enlightenment.
00:35:52 When you write on here, Acts 2, verses 14 through 21,
00:35:58 when they got filled with the Holy Spirit
00:36:01 and people didn't understand what was going on,
00:36:04 Peter enlightened them.
00:36:05 He enlightened them.
00:36:08 Can I, can I, can I, can I, can I show you, can I show you this verse?
00:36:12 Before I give you number three, verse four says they were all filled with the Holy Spirit
00:36:16 and they began to speak in other languages,
00:36:19 other languages.
00:36:21 Acts chapter two
00:36:23 and the tongues that take place
00:36:26 and your prayer language
00:36:30 are not the same.
00:36:31 You cannot justify your prayer language
00:36:36 with Acts chapter two.
00:36:38 Acts chapter two, they are, it's, it's, it's a tongue of prayer.
00:36:42 Not, not, not, not, it's a tongue of praise,
00:36:45 not a prayer.
00:36:47 Paul talks about the prayer part over in first Corinthians,
00:36:50 but look at what he says, look at what he said, look what he said, look what he said.
00:36:52 They said, they said in verse five,
00:36:54 verse six, when they heard the loud noise, everybody came running
00:36:58 and they were surprised to hear their own languages being spoken
00:37:02 by the believers. The believers are the 120.
00:37:05 In other words, they say, now how, how, how,
00:37:07 they never been to France, how can they be speaking French?
00:37:13 They never been to Puerto Rico. How can they be speaking Spanish?
00:37:17 They know the two languages I know, so you make up some other ones there.
00:37:21 Yeah, yeah, they all heard them.
00:37:25 And remember, it's the day of Pentecost
00:37:27 and it was a festival where Jews from Jerusalem,
00:37:30 Jews outside of Jerusalem always had to come back.
00:37:33 So thousands of people are there, Dr. Davis,
00:37:35 and look what they say, verse seven,
00:37:37 they were completely amazed.
00:37:40 How can this be?
00:37:42 These people are all from Galilee.
00:37:45 I got to get through this, Lisa,
00:37:47 but the Galileans were known
00:37:51 to not be the sharpest knife in the box.
00:37:55 These are good.
00:37:59 These guys didn't even pass the SAT.
00:38:02 And how are they speaking in my language?
00:38:08 Watch this, there's people there from all over the world.
00:38:11 Watch it, First Lady.
00:38:13 Verse eight says, yeah, we hear them speaking in our own native languages.
00:38:16 And then it's saying some of the people who were there are Parthians,
00:38:20 Medes, Elamite, people from Massapotamia, Judea,
00:38:24 Cappadocia, doesn't that sound like a drink at Starbucks?
00:38:28 Matter of fact, tomorrow June,
00:38:33 I'm just going to go and say I'll have an axe to nine.
00:38:36 Cappadocia, my sister.
00:38:42 Guess what she's going to say?
00:38:43 Security.
00:38:44 Verse 11 says, we hear these people speaking in our own language.
00:38:52 The what?
00:38:53 Wonderful things that God has done.
00:38:56 What are they doing?
00:38:57 They're praising God.
00:38:59 They're praising God.
00:39:01 They're praising God.
00:39:04 Tongues is not to confuse folks.
00:39:07 It's to praise God.
00:39:13 And it's for prayer.
00:39:15 And notice what he says, notice what he said.
00:39:17 They said, they said, they said, they said, they said in verse number 12,
00:39:21 they were amazed and perplexed and they said, what, what, what can this mean?
00:39:26 They asked, what can this mean?
00:39:28 Look at verse 13.
00:39:30 But others in the crowd said they drunk.
00:39:33 Whenever God fills you with his Holy Spirit.
00:39:40 And there's one baptism of the spirit, but there are many feelings of the spirit.
00:39:48 So you got to ask God constantly to feel me to feel me to feel me to feel me to feel me to feel me to feel me because life will drain you.
00:39:56 And when you get filled with the Holy Spirit, the two reactions, there will be curiosity.
00:40:04 And then there'll be negativity.
00:40:07 Did you kiss that David?
00:40:08 Did you kiss that cow?
00:40:09 Curious how they doing this?
00:40:11 How is Maria doing all what they're doing after the pandemic curiosity?
00:40:18 Because we got folks full of the Holy Spirit.
00:40:20 We ain't afraid of the Holy Spirit.
00:40:24 But then you got negativity.
00:40:27 They drunk.
00:40:27 They drunk.
00:40:29 They drunk.
00:40:29 Easiest thing to do when you understand something is to ridicule.
00:40:33 They drunk.
00:40:36 They drunk.
00:40:38 In other words, they doing that song.
00:40:40 Blame it on the aca aca aca.
00:40:43 Is that the way it go?
00:40:46 Jacobi?
00:40:46 Is that the way it go?
00:40:47 You was you were singing it to me the other day.
00:40:49 Don't blame it on the aca aca aca.
00:40:51 I don't know where you get these carnal songs.
00:40:54 They drunk.
00:40:58 They are drunk.
00:41:01 But look at verse 14.
00:41:05 Peter stepped forward with the 11 other Apostles and shouted to the crowd.
00:41:09 Listen carefully.
00:41:11 These people ain't drunk.
00:41:13 It's nine o'clock in the morning.
00:41:15 The bar ain't even open yet.
00:41:17 I love Peter.
00:41:19 He's so transparent.
00:41:20 He didn't say he didn't drink.
00:41:21 He just said the bar ain't open yet.
00:41:22 And watch the Enlightenment.
00:41:25 Watch the Enlightenment.
00:41:26 He said this is what the Prophet Joel talked about when he said God is going to pour out his spirit on all people and
00:41:34 sons and daughters will prophesy.
00:41:36 Young men will see visions.
00:41:40 And old man.
00:41:42 Will dream dreams.
00:41:44 I want y'all to know I'm still seeing visions.
00:41:48 Let's get that straight right now.
00:41:51 I know I'm at 41 years, but I'm still
00:41:56 seeing visions.
00:41:58 Start to dream a little bit too though.
00:42:02 Enlightenment.
00:42:05 All right, let me give you answer three.
00:42:07 All right, number one being full of the Holy Spirit brings what to your life?
00:42:11 Number two being full of Holy Spirit brings what?
00:42:14 Enlightenment.
00:42:15 You're able to tell other people about the Lord.
00:42:17 And then here's the last one being full of the Holy Spirit brings employment to you as a believer.
00:42:22 Employment a job.
00:42:25 Look at what he says.
00:42:26 He says when the Holy Spirit come not only will Holy Spirit give you power and not only will you be
00:42:31 enlightened to talk about Jesus, but you will be employed to work in at least four different areas.
00:42:38 It's right there on your paper.
00:42:41 He says in Jerusalem.
00:42:43 In Judea and Samaria and the uttermost parts of the world in Jerusalem, Jerusalem means home.
00:42:52 Judea means the community Samaritan means across the track.
00:42:58 It means being a witness to people that don't like you and you don't care much for them either.
00:43:02 But you still got to be a witness to him because you just can't witness the people that like you.
00:43:09 And then he says the uttermost parts of the world.
00:43:12 I love it because look what he says start at home.
00:43:16 The first place you ought to be employed the first place why you ought to show that you're full of the
00:43:23 spirit the place place that you ought to show that the Lord is leading your life is about the way you
00:43:29 act at home.
00:43:30 And deliver me for these people who are stood and a dud at the house.
00:43:40 You're a hero in the church.
00:43:45 But you are zero with your children.
00:43:49 Who are you at home?
00:43:52 Who are you?
00:43:53 Who are you at home?
00:43:55 That's why sometimes when people are preaching and singing and testify.
00:44:01 Family members be looking at him like hmm.
00:44:05 Feel like the devil is a lie and them too.
00:44:10 That's why many times when I'm preaching when I'm teaching when I'm up here many of you are looking
00:44:17 at first lady.
00:44:18 To see how she reacts.
00:44:22 To see if whether or not I'm real I'm legit.
00:44:27 I know that that's why she and I practice at home.
00:44:30 Come on.
00:44:36 Dr.
00:44:37 John we practice at home.
00:44:38 I'm say this I'm gonna tell a story about the elevator and the guy that I know you don't like this
00:44:46 but just laugh just like us people gonna be looking at you and they gonna thank me and you ain't got a
00:44:49 good relationship.
00:44:50 Ha ha ha ha ha ha.
00:44:51 Who are you at home?
00:45:00 How can you cook for the church, but don't cook for your children?
00:45:04 How can you teach Master Life but don't have no life with your spouse?
00:45:14 Who are you at home?
00:45:20 Then he says let it spill over in the community Judea and then let it spill over across the tracks
00:45:26 in Samaria and then just take it everywhere you go.
00:45:30 That's your job and the Holy Spirit will give you power to do.
00:45:35 Last verse Israel.
00:45:40 Last verse Ishmael.
00:45:42 Last verse Theophilus.
00:45:46 Peter preached all the way to verse 36 and look at verse 37 Peter's words pierce their hearts.
00:45:53 What did Peter's words do pierce their heart quit expecting for my preaching to just shout you.
00:45:59 Some things I say out of pierce your heart.
00:46:04 Some things I say out of make you mad as all get out, but you still come back.
00:46:12 Peter's words pierce their heart and look what they said to him.
00:46:16 What should we do?
00:46:17 And look at what Peter told him to do each of you must do what I'm at verse 38 repent of your sins and turn to God.
00:46:27 Shall salvation.
00:46:29 Repent of your sins and turn to return to God and repent of your sins.
00:46:36 And we know from first Corinthians 1213 that when you do do not repent of your sins.
00:46:42 When you do that you get baptized by the spirit into the body of Christ.
00:46:48 That's the first Baptist.
00:46:49 You look at what he says and be baptized in the name of Jesus see water baptism there.
00:46:55 Here are the three baptisms here to three baptism.
00:46:58 He says and get baptized with the water for the goodness of sin.
00:47:02 He says then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
00:47:07 The gift and the gift of the Holy Spirit is the gift the gift of the Holy Spirit.
00:47:12 Is not tongues the gift of the Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit.
00:47:16 One of the gifts of the spirit happens to be tongues, but the gift of the Holy Spirit is the gift.
00:47:24 Peter said who's willing to do this and then verse 39.
00:47:33 He says this promise is to you this promises to your children and to everybody who's far away.
00:47:40 Even those who call upon the Lord, you know what he's saying quit listening to folks.
00:47:45 They're saying being filled with the spirit been baptized with the spirit being baptized in the spirit was for acts to but it ain't for the day.
00:47:55 Because right here he says this promise is for you.
00:48:01 This promise is for your children.
00:48:04 I got help over there.
00:48:07 And this promise is for everybody who calls on the name of the Lord.
00:48:13 Can I tell you something that's interesting as I put away my notes?
00:48:17 They praise God in tongues.
00:48:21 But Peter preached in the language.
00:48:25 They understood.
00:48:27 Notice the preaching wasn't in tongues because it would have created more confusion.
00:48:36 So he preached in the language where everybody and 3,000 people got saved.
00:48:41 And I want you to know today.
00:48:47 You don't have to be afraid of the Holy Spirit.
00:48:52 You don't have to be afraid to be baptized with or in the Holy Spirit.
00:49:01 And when it happens, you let God control the consequences.
00:49:07 And quit trying to measure whether people are full of the Holy Spirit based off of they don't do what you do.
00:49:18 Because God uses us all.
00:49:23 Differently.
00:49:26 All right.
00:49:28 All right, I got.
00:49:31 I got one last thing.
00:49:32 Here we go right here.
00:49:35 I'm closing right here.
00:49:37 This is a bag of balloons.
00:49:40 Bag of balloons.
00:49:43 Show them that Carlton.
00:49:45 This is a bag.
00:49:46 Got some white ones in there.
00:49:48 Got some red ones in there.
00:49:50 And all I can do with them like this is show them to you.
00:49:59 This bag of balloons really can do not much with them, but show them to.
00:50:02 But if I put air in.
00:50:06 If I put air in.
00:50:09 Them white and red balloons that were in the bag.
00:50:14 Now that I feel them with air.
00:50:18 I can do more with them like this.
00:50:22 Then I can like this.
00:50:25 Is the light starting to come on?
00:50:29 See like this don't nobody really want them.
00:50:33 But like this you can use them for decoration.
00:50:38 You can use them for celebrations.
00:50:43 Am I helping anybody who you can use them to get out the dog house?
00:50:49 Baby, I bought you some balloons.
00:50:54 Because air is in them and now they serve a higher purpose.
00:51:04 And the air.
00:51:09 But you and I is the breath of the Holy Spirit.
00:51:15 And when you allow the Holy Spirit to breathe in you to baptize you.
00:51:24 You go from this.
00:51:27 To this.
00:51:29 You wonder why don't nobody want you?
00:51:32 You wonder why you can't get along you wonder why you ain't got no power you you you don't have a power in you.
00:51:41 Watch this.
00:51:43 And when you get like this.
00:51:45 Holy Spirit gave me get creative with you.
00:51:49 And you can start looking.
00:51:52 And you can start looking not just red and white.
00:51:55 But now look at you now you are Mother's Day balloons.
00:52:01 Now you're Memorial Day balloon.
00:52:05 Now you're graduation balloon.
00:52:08 Now you're Father's Day balloon.
00:52:10 I'm no longer just white and red.
00:52:13 But now I can be different things for different occasions.
00:52:19 And when the Holy Ghost comes in your life, he will allow you to be able to do different things at different occasions.
00:52:28 You can be the same person on your job that you are in the church.
00:52:32 You can be the same person on the football field that you are in church because the breath.
00:52:38 Watch this.
00:52:45 Can I tell you one more thing?
00:52:48 When you just like this.
00:52:49 First of all,
00:52:52 you got to blow this up.
00:52:55 So you can become this.
00:52:58 But when you notice what do you blow these up?
00:53:02 Then you seal it.
00:53:04 You seal it and why do they seal the balloon y'all so what's in it don't come out of it.
00:53:15 And not only does Jesus baptize you in the Holy Spirit, but God Jesus and the Holy Spirit will seal you.
00:53:25 So that the Spirit is in you no matter where you are even when you're arguing with somebody I still got the Spirit.
00:53:35 That's why I ain't cuss you out the way I feel like it.
00:53:39 And God brought you and me here today.
00:53:49 To ask you.
00:53:51 Do you want to be this?
00:53:54 Do you want to be this?
00:53:58 You could be this or you could be that you could be this or you could be.
00:54:07 And when you're this don't nobody want you.
00:54:12 But when you're this.
00:54:16 Now other people are attracted to you.
00:54:21 And I say to you today.
00:54:24 Don't be afraid to ask God to fill you with the Holy Spirit.
00:54:33 And you know how you get it.
00:54:37 You know how you get being filled with the Holy Spirit.
00:54:39 You already have the Spirit because you're born again, but you know how you get filled you ask for it.
00:54:44 And Luke 11 says this.
00:54:47 If your father knows how to give gifts to their children, how much more does the Heavenly Father?
00:54:57 Give gifts and power to those that ask for it.
00:55:06 I want you to stand across the sanctuary.
00:55:10 Tell somebody I was helped today.
00:55:13 I was helped today.
00:55:14 And I want you to lift your hands right where you are.
00:55:19 And I'm gonna pray for you to receive.
00:55:25 The Holy Spirit.
00:55:30 And receive.
00:55:31 Because that's all you have to do is ask for.
00:55:34 And receive.
00:55:36 God, thank you for your Spirit.
00:55:40 I pray now over this congregation.
00:55:43 That you'll feel everybody from the top of their head to the sole of their feet.
00:55:49 The mere fact that they accepted Jesus they already have.
00:55:54 The Spirit baptizing them in the body.
00:56:00 But now I pray that Jesus will baptize them in the Spirit.
00:56:03 And I pray God that this will be something they won't be ashamed of.
00:56:08 It's something they won't be fearful of.
00:56:11 And then God I pray that they'll leave the results to you.
00:56:16 And whatever you want to add with it.
00:56:19 That they'll know if it comes from you.
00:56:22 It's okay.
00:56:24 So thank you now.
00:56:28 Even those who are watching God.
00:56:30 I pray now that they too will be in the posture to receive.
00:56:35 The Holy Ghost.
00:56:37 Thank you for it.
00:56:39 Thank you for the employment.
00:56:42 Thank you for the empowerment.
00:56:46 And then God, thank you so much for the enlightenment.
00:56:50 In Jesus name.
00:56:52 Now right where you are.
00:56:54 I want you to clap your hands.
00:56:57 And I want you to lift your voice and just start thanking God for filling you.
00:57:01 Start thanking him for what your voice lift up your voice and just start thanking him.
00:57:06 Start thanking and praising him for filling you.
00:57:10 Let the results come how God want them to come.
00:57:13 Let the consequence come how God it may be a language you understand.
00:57:17 It may be the one you don't understand.
00:57:20 But thank him for filling you.
00:57:26 Everybody on your role.
00:57:27 Will you touch him and say receive you the Holy Ghost.
00:57:31 Receive you the Holy Ghost.
00:57:34 Receive you the.
00:57:36 And remember.
00:57:38 Remember.
00:57:40 Is one baptism of.
00:57:43 But as many feelings in.
00:57:46 And when you wake up tomorrow, tell God fill me.
00:57:50 All over again.
00:57:54 Fill me up until my cup overflows.
00:57:59 And then help me to tell others about you.
00:58:04 If you're here today.
00:58:06 If you're here today and you never accepted Christ and you want this power.
00:58:10 If you're here today, you just want somebody to pray with you to pray with you individually.
00:58:15 That God may give you the power you need.
00:58:18 To make it as a believer.
00:58:21 If you're here today and don't have a church home, don't have a church home and you
00:58:24 feel like God is calling you.
00:58:26 I don't want you to be afraid of Pentecost.
00:58:29 Are being Pentecostal.
00:58:31 And if you really want to trip some folks up the next time they say.
00:58:36 Do you have the Holy Spirit?
00:58:39 Tell them this.
00:58:40 No.
00:58:41 The Holy Spirit has made.
00:58:45 Because the truth is the more we grow the more we give ourselves.
00:58:54 To what God wants to do father.
