00:00 Alright guys, good morning. Welcome to episode 187.
00:04 Today's gonna be exciting. On the docket today,
00:06 Kristi is staining the deck.
00:08 And before you guys get mad at me for not helping her,
00:10 I went down today and helped move a bunch of stuff.
00:12 I'm gonna clear off the deck for her.
00:14 I power wash the whole thing by myself.
00:16 That was our deal. I power wash, she stains.
00:19 We're gonna restart this, and then this afternoon,
00:22 I'm hoping to get the rest of my parts for my airplane in.
00:25 So my goal is to take the maiden flight with that today.
00:28 Alright, let's get it done.
00:30 Alright guys, Kristi is rocking and rolling getting the deck knocked out.
00:51 It's definitely not easy, so big time props to her for doing that.
00:55 I am still in my pajamas.
00:58 Taking it really easy today, but I do keep having a lot of
01:02 like silly projects pop up today that I want to accomplish.
01:05 So right now I'm gonna work on editing a Friday episode.
01:08 I want to do my RC airplane today.
01:10 I just noticed that my subwoofer in the living room is not working.
01:13 So I'm gonna figure out if the subwoofer is broken, or if it's the cable.
01:16 And then whatever I gotta do to fix that, cause that's annoying.
01:19 And so forth and so on.
01:21 Let's go.
01:22 Here's the subwoofer that's not working, so let's see what we can figure out.
01:32 So the sub is working, so it's gotta be that cable that's bad.
01:37 So there's my cable.
01:40 There was a lot of pressure put on the back.
01:42 I found another cable, I'm gonna just splice them together for now.
01:44 Make sure that fixes the problem, but my plan is I'm actually gonna get a
01:47 permanent install plate right here.
01:49 That's a RCA output, so I can just strip this down and connect it to that plate.
01:53 And then I'll run a short wire from the plate to the actual subwoofer.
01:56 But this will get us by for now, and at least show me for sure if that's a problem or not.
02:00 So that's the plan. Let's do it.
02:02 Tip and sleeve.
02:10 And I've got three conductors inside.
02:12 So I'm gonna have to figure out which two.
02:14 I assume the shielding and one of the other ones.
02:16 But I gotta figure out which ones are actually making the connection.
02:19 Ba-bam.
02:24 Alright, cooking pizza for lunch.
02:34 [Music]
02:56 Alright, check check check.
02:57 Apparently my microphone battery died, or I broke it because I did this track.
03:01 It's almost dark, and I'm gonna try to fly this thing really fast.
03:05 I mean, not like fly it in a fast manner, just try to fly it before it gets dark.
03:09 Oh my gosh.
03:10 [Music]
03:28 Number two.
03:29 [Music]
03:40 So the good news is it flies.
03:42 The bad news is it lands really hard.
03:46 I'm gonna have to get this out where there's more space because I kept it boarding.
03:50 I was afraid I was gonna hit a neighbor's house.
03:52 That would be bad.
03:53 Alright.
03:54 [Music]
04:00 Alright guys, so enough with trying to fly that airplane tonight.
04:03 It's probably a really bad idea to give that a shot.
04:06 But nonetheless, it was pretty cool to see that it flew.
04:09 It was pretty stupid of me to try to fly that in my neighborhood.
04:13 It became very obvious to me that I'm gonna need to get into a big, gigantic open field.
04:19 Right now I'm heading out to grab something to eat.
04:22 And then when I get back to the house, I'm gonna spend some more time with the RC airplane.
04:27 I do think that's the coolest thing ever.
04:29 One thing I am considering, our church does different small groups every semester.
04:33 And this semester, Kristen and I are both attending some.
04:37 We typically lead one or two small groups.
04:39 Like typically we try to do a couples one that's based around finances or something.
04:43 I am a glutton for punishment, so sometimes I like to do a second one as well.
04:47 I am trying to figure out the logistics of how we can do an RC airplane small group.
04:52 Because I think that would be super fun.
04:54 The hard thing is trying to figure out where to have it.
04:56 It would be awesome to have it in a spot where we could get all of our things out and leave them out for 13 weeks.
05:03 I have a lot of space in my house, but nowhere that I could leave out like, you know, five model airplanes for 13 weeks.
05:12 So that's the plan, Stan.
05:14 I'm going to grab something to eat and more than likely we'll see you tomorrow.
05:18 So Sunday starts now.
05:20 Hey, welcome back. Welcome to Sunday.
05:22 Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.
05:25 I have the week off, I'm not on sound.
05:27 So we get to go to church together as a family.
05:30 We are not necessarily late, we're close on time.
05:33 We'll be on time.
05:35 You said you wanted to leave five minutes ago.
05:37 Yeah, because I went five minutes late.
05:39 Today is going to be awesome.
05:41 Christy's going to stain the deck some more.
05:44 For me, today should be pretty cool.
05:47 I'm going to fly my RC plane, watch some football and all that.
05:51 Do you guys want to go with me to fly my RC plane?
05:54 Yeah, we should actually go.
05:56 I have to find a big field.
05:58 I've got everything working right, but I've got to find a huge field to do it.
06:02 We could do the sports complex.
06:04 That's what I'm thinking, I might go to the sports complex.
06:06 Because you could just lie there and it's not too empty.
06:08 [Music]
06:11 [Music]
06:13 [Music]
06:41 Alright guys, I noticed on some of yesterday's footage there's no sound.
06:44 So I had to get more batteries for my microphone.
06:48 Yeah.
06:49 [Music]
06:56 We need to name the plane. Can you guys help me name it?
06:59 Flash.
07:01 Flash? What are some other names that could work for it?
07:03 Alright, we're going to name this sucker Earl.
07:06 Earl.
07:07 Everyone cool?
07:08 Yeah.
07:09 Earl it is.
07:10 Can we play at the park?
07:12 Yeah.
07:13 I want to see it when I grow up.
07:15 Oh, should I wear a mask when I play basketball?
07:17 Let's see what we can do here.
07:19 [Music]
07:48 Oh, look out!
07:50 [Music]
07:52 Alright, so at least we have the drone to fly.
07:54 I'm going to let the kids fly that.
07:56 I'm not sure what was up with that.
07:58 Probably just bad conditions.
08:00 It's a little gusty.
08:01 I have no idea.
08:02 I got to figure that out.
08:04 So, anyway, let's fly the drone.
08:05 [Music]
08:34 Back to the drawing board.
08:36 See if I can get it repaired.
08:38 Try again.
08:39 Maybe later today.
08:40 It's supposed to be less windy later.
08:41 We will definitely give it another try.
08:43 [Music]
08:51 I purchased everything that I think I'm going to need to rebuild.
08:54 My thought is this big airplane is just so much to manage.
08:57 I'm going to try to scratch build.
08:59 So, I've got my foam board here.
09:01 Two sheets of that, $2.00.
09:02 I've got some Velcro, some popsicle sticks.
09:05 That's for the girls.
09:06 I need like two of them.
09:07 Rubber bands, $5.00.
09:09 And glue sticks, $6.00.
09:11 So, I'm going to try to scratch build a smaller plane that's hopefully a little more manageable.
09:16 That's maybe a little more precise.
09:18 Because I'm not exactly sure what the deal is with this one.
09:21 I was obviously pretty reckless.
09:24 Just trying to throw it in the air like that.
09:26 But something wasn't right for sure.
09:28 So, a little disappointed.
09:29 I will try to fly the big one.
09:30 But I also want to try to build a small one.
09:32 Alright, so I got the plane put back together.
09:34 I'm not sure how long this battery is going to last.
09:36 But I'm going to try to fly it.
09:38 I'm here at this school.
09:39 There's obviously no one here on a Sunday.
09:41 We've got all this space.
09:42 So, I hope it's pretty safe.
09:43 I'm heading right into the wind.
09:44 Which I think is what I'm supposed to do.
09:46 So, let's see what happens.
09:47 [Music]
10:15 Oh!
10:16 I have really good news.
10:18 And I have really bad news.
10:20 Oh, crap.
10:21 The good news is it totally flew.
10:23 The bad news is I couldn't get control of it.
10:25 It kept doing looped loops.
10:27 Oh my gosh.
10:29 Oh!
10:30 And I landed it on top of the school.
10:34 Crap.
10:36 I'm going to go get the drone and see what it looks like.
10:39 So, I was really trying hard to be responsible.
10:42 I wasn't trying to do loop to loops.
10:44 It was the only way I could.
10:45 It kept climbing and the only way I could keep it from stalling would be to make it go all the way around.
10:49 So, I know that a lot of the faculty, which is this vlog, more than likely before you see this episode,
10:56 you will realize that I've crashed my airplane on top of your school.
11:01 And I'm going to have to get it down.
11:03 Or just leave it there.
11:04 I'd really like to get it down.
11:05 At bare minimum, salvage the electronics from inside of it.
11:08 [Music]
11:28 Alright, so I've been texting my friend, the assistant principal over there.
11:31 And apparently, there's no easy way to get up there.
11:34 One of their maintenance guys actually has to physically get a ladder, put it up through a scuttle, I assume.
11:39 I think I saw it right there by where I crashed it.
11:42 And then climb up and out.
11:44 We'll see how it goes.
11:46 [Music]
11:50 Alright, so the vice principal says that the maintenance guy will get up there and get it for me tomorrow.
11:55 Awesome, big time thank you to those guys.
11:57 I had it in my head that I was going to paint my plane tonight.
12:00 And since that's not an option, I'm taking on a scratch build.
12:03 So I had downloaded one of the scratch build plans from flighttest.com.
12:08 I just cut out all the pieces and paper.
12:10 And now I need to cut them out of my actual hobby board or whatever it's called.
12:15 So I'm going to get this laid out.
12:16 Also watching the Packers game.
12:18 Aaron Rodgers is my fantasy quarterback.
12:21 He's having a heck of a game.
12:22 Anyway, I'm hoping to get this cut out and painted.
12:25 See how this goes.
12:27 [Music]
12:35 I got it built.
12:36 Here's my plane.
12:37 Pretty slick.
12:38 [Laughter]
12:40 Doesn't glide so well.
12:42 Now that I got it built, I'm going to paint it.
12:44 I'm going to get this sucker looking good.
12:46 So the girls thought that the new airplane kind of looks like a turtle.
12:50 So we're going to name it after one of the Ninja Turtles.
12:54 Leonardo.
12:56 I'm going to call it Leo.
12:58 This was the closest thing to green I had.
13:00 It's teal.
13:02 We're going to do silver and teal.
13:04 That's the plan.
13:05 [Music]
13:23 All right, guys, so here is Leo, our little turtle flyer.
13:26 It turned out pretty good.
13:27 The spray paint did seem to kind of delaminate the paper a little bit.
13:31 So we'll see how this flies whenever I can get the electronics out of the other one.
13:34 But, guys, we're going to go ahead and wrap our weekend episode.
13:37 We do want to say thanks for tuning in.
