  • last year
Australia's Defence Chief has been pressed on the action the military has taken since the Afghanistan war inquiry at an address to the Lowy Institute. The general has previously been firm with holding commanding officers to account and going as far as asking Afghanistan veterans to explain why they should keep war honours. Major General Paul Brereton's investigation into possible war crimes in Afghanistan resulted in a total of 36 incidents referred to the AFP for criminal investigation including the suggestion of murders and cultural malpractice.
