6 years after his debut album as band leader, American vibraphone player and composer Mike Mainieri assembled a new quartet and released the album "Insight". The album has a purely address towards a classical jazz-soul sound with Mainieri still working mostly in a jazz mode, but also stretching towards some experiments to come in the 70s in a mosly sophisticated way.The vibes have really rich anc chromatic elements supported by the fine sounds of Beck's guitar and the amazing rhythm engine by Christie and McDonald.
