London headlines 24th March: Man found guilty of homophobic hammer attack murder in Tower Hamlets

A man has been convicted of murder following a homophobic hammer attack in an east London cemetery. Erik Feld, aged 37, murdered Sri Lankan national Ranjith ‘Roy’ Kankanamalage in August 2021. The victim, aged 50, was discovered when a passer-by found him with "catastrophic" head injuries in Tower Hamlets Cemetery Park.

Next - Transport for London is restarting a piece of work connected with the Bakerloo line extension design, in order to enter into discussions with potential developers on the route between Lambeth and Lewisham. An extension of the line via the Old Kent Road and New Cross Gate has been chosen as the best option for improving transport links in southeast London.

Last - Haringey's beautiful Crouch End has topped the London list in the annual Sunday Times Best Places to Live guide. In it, the judges praise Crouch End for its distinct cultural scene and give a nod to its green spaces and independent shops.
