California Court Rules in Favor for Uber and Lyft, Allows Drivers to Be Treated as Independent Contractors

A US court has ruled that app-based ride hailing and delivery companies such as Uber, Lyft and Postmates can continue to treat their workers as independent contractors in the state of California. The California appeals court found that a labor measure, known as Proposition 22, was largely constitutional, overturning a lower court ruling in 2021 that claimed it was illegal.
