Nairobi, Kenia. Vor den Toren der Hauptstadt des Landes liegt der „Nairobi“-Nationalpark, der älteste Nationalpark Kenias. Hier liegt die größte Aufzucht- und Auswilderungsstation für Elefantenwaisen auf dem afrikanischen Kontinent. Drei oder vier Wochen sind die Tiere alt, wenn sie hierher kommen. Ihre Eltern sind zumeist Wilderern zum Opfer gefallen, die es auf das Elfenbein der erwachsenen Elefanten abgesehen haben. So ergeht es auch dem kleinen kenianischen Elefantenbaby Sara. Ohne ihre Mutter ist Saras Leben voller Gefahren: Sie kann noch nicht alleine fressen, braucht Muttermilch und in diesem Alter ist sie außerdem leichte Beute für Raubtiere. Jetzt können ihr nur noch diejenigen helfen, die eigentlich ihre ärgsten Feinde sind – Menschen. So wird sie von Wildhütern des Nationalparks gefunden und kommt zur Pflege in das Elefantenwaisenhaus von Nairobi.
