1 dead, 26 injured during Jallikattu festival in Madurai

1 person died and 26 others sustained injuries during Jallikattu festival in Madurai, Tamil Nadu on January 16. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital. Only 300 bull tamers and 150 spectators are allowed in a Jallikattu event.

Every year during Pongal, Jallikattu competition is conducted in villages of Tamil Nadu. On January 17, District Collector of Madurai, Aneesh Shekhar informed ANI “On January 16 during the Jallikattu event twenty-six people got injured and one casualty took place. The injured were rushed to the hospital.”
