Health officials from EU countries will hold a Council meeting on crisis management mechanisms on Wednesday to assess the current epidemic and its spread in China. In addition, according to the media, the Swedish Government said on Monday, that they will discuss EU-wide measures for passengers entering from China.

Last Thursday, representatives from 27 governments, officials of European health agencies, the European Commission, and hundreds of World Health Organization (WHO) representatives held a video conference. Italy called on the European Union to adopt Italy's approach to testing travelers from China. Although other member states did not approve it, France and Spain followed up and took testing measures for passengers from China. With the sharp increase in the number of cases of virus infection in the country and the failure of the CCP Government to respond to the WHO's repeated requests to share accurate and specific data on the epidemic, more and more countries including the U.S., Europe, and Asia have joined the ranks in implementing new quarantine measures on China tourists entering the country.

Beginning January 5th, the United States will require all incoming tourists from Communist China to provide a negative test certificate within two days of the flight or a certification that the passenger has recovered within the last 90 days. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, acceptable evidence includes rapid screening of household antigen by polymerase chain reaction or telemedicine services. The regulations also apply to tourists from Hong Kong and Macau.

Among the EU countries since January 1st, France has required travelers entering the country from China to show negative results of a polymerase chain reaction within 48 hours before boarding the plane. In addition, Italy has imposed compulsory screening for new COVID-19 toxins on PRC visitors. At the same time, Spain's Ministry of Health (MOH) has also announced that PRC visitors must produce a certificate of negative screening results or complete vaccination. The Belgian Government announced on Monday that it decided to conduct sewage testing on flights from China to determine whether there are new virus variants present. Belgian health officials said the measures were additional monitoring to verify the accuracy of the data Belgium received from China.

Under UK regulations that comes into effect on January 5th, all passengers traveling from China to the UK must submit a negative test certificate before boarding a plane. In addition, the British Government said it would conduct ‘sampling tests’ on arriving passengers to monitor possible new virus variants.
