Local and energy officials in Moore County, NC, informed residents that power could be out until Dec. 8.
The announcement follows what appears to be a coordinated gun-attack targeting two power substations on Dec. 3.
Low temperatures and dark roads led officials to institute a curfew for the region.
Officers have been called

A spokesperson for
Duke Energy referred to the
type of repairs necessary to
get power back on as "complex.".
Unlike perhaps a storm where you can go in and reroute power somewhere else, that was not an option in this case, Jeff Brooks, Duke Energy Spokesperson,

We are looking at a pretty sophisticated repair with some fairly large equipment, Jeff Brooks, Duke Energy Spokesperson,

... and so we do want citizens of the town to be prepared that this will be a multi-day restoration for most customers extending potentially as long as Thursday, Jeff Brooks, Duke Energy Spokesperson,

State officials and the FBI are working to determine if the gun-attacks are acts of domestic terrorism.
Local officials did not rule out a connection between the substation attacks and an LGBTQ+ drag show scheduled the same night.

The headliner and host of the drag show alluded to unconfirmed reports of extremist push-back against the show.
