For the first several years of CS:GO, Swedish teams ruled the game. The initial era of NiP gave way to the ascent of Fnatic, and there were often even third all-Swedish squads like LGB making runs into the later stages of tournaments.
But since being dethroned in 2016, Swedish CS:GO has seen a steady decline. Both NiP and Fnatic entered slumps, cycling through young prospects for fresh blood but never really identifying a player who could truly pick up the mantle of the old guard. That is until Brollan arrived at Fnatic, and is now a key figure in their return to the number one world ranking, albeit briefly.
