Dans quelques jours, le 6 novembre prochain, au large de Saint-Malo, Charles Caudrelier réalisera l’un de ses rêves d’enfant : celui de participer à la Route du Rhum - Destination Guadeloupe. C’est la reine des transats en solitaire et plus précisément l’un de ses héros, Laurent Bourgnon, qui dans les années 90, ont illuminé son regard et fait grandir en lui plus qu’une vocation, une passion.
Dans ce portrait, Charles Caudrelier revient sur ses premières années, son amour pour la mer et les grands moments de sa carrière. In a few days, on 6 November, offshore of Saint Malo, Charles Caudrelier will realise a childhood dream: to participate in the Route du Rhum. Indeed, it is the queen of singlehanded transatlantic races and more precisely one of his heroes, Laurent Bourgnon, who back in the nineties, lit something in Charles and instilled in him more than a vocation, a passion.
In this portrait, Charles Caudrelier looks back at his early years, his love of the sea and the key moments of his career. As discreet as he is hardworking, the Sailor of the Year 2018 will take the helm of the Maxi Edmond de Rothschild for his first major singlehanded race aboard a multihull.
