Hearing aids will be sold over-the-counter as of October 17th, 2022

In July, President Joe Biden signed an executive order encouraging the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to allow hearing aids to be sold over the counter. The president’s move is meant to promote competition in the market. The FDA announced the rule change in August, and beginning Monday, October 17th, American adults can buy assistive hearing devices in store and online without a prescription for the first time.
