This person made tofu out of chickpeas. At first, they soaked the chickpeas in the water for some time before churning them into a thick batter using the blender. They strained the batter to remove excess water. Afterwards, they added baking powder to the batter and mixed it slowly to maintain its consistency. They poured the batter and left it to freeze before frying them in a pan.

00:02Alright!
00:02Welcome to my local kitchen where I localize cultural classics for a more sustainable diet.
00:07The one thing that kept me away from tofu was that it is often imported from far away.
00:11But did you know you can make tofu out of locally grown chickpeas?
00:14These chickpeas were grown in the UK.
00:16Once heated and reduced, the protein in the chickpeas firms up into a soft block.
00:19This style of tofu is called Burmese tofu and it's quite similar to a thick polenta.
00:24It even fries perfectly golden crisp and can be used just like any other tofu.
00:27Wunderbar!
