William Branham preached strongly against men and women revealing skin, whether in public or in private. In the main sect of his religious cult and many of the splinter groups that were created, shorts, bathing suits, and various other shorter-length garments are strictly forbidden. Even in children’s indoctrination camps such as Still Waters Camp in Indiana, the dress code matches Branham’s clearly defined rules.
In private, however, the Branham family did not adhere to the dress code that Branham’s stage persona promoted. Branham’s sons wore shorts, and daughters exposed both their knees and their shoulders. William Branham himself wore shorts. After a photograph was leaked to the public of Branham wearing shorts in Africa, his daughter Rebekah had to explain why.
She made it sound as though it was unusual for William Branham to wear shorts, but never explained how – if he never wore shorts – that his knees were tan in the photo. Branham’s exposed leg was very dark compared to the legs of almost all the men, women, and children in his cult following.
