Srimad Bhagavatam 5.9.18-20
by HG Dravida Dasa 12/9/2021
Goddess Kali, a great devotee of Lord Krishna, can't tolerate someone harming His pure devotees. So when she saw that some low-class worshipers of hers were about to sacrifice Krishna's pure devotee Jada Bharata on her altar, she burst out of her statue and annihilated them.

Odana Sasthi
Odana Sasthi is a festival that marks the beginning of winter. During this festival, devotees dress the Deity forms of Lord Jagannatha and Lord Balarama in new, starched garments. This ceremony indicates that from that day forward the Lord should be dressed in warm, winter garments. The new garments are starched to preserve them. According to the rules for Deity worship, new clothes should first be washed to remove all the starch, and then the Lord can be dressed in them. But in Jagannatha Puri, by the desire of Lord Jagannatha, on this occasion His servants dress Him in new, starched clothes.
