Automotive business council Naamsa has issued the second-quarter review of business conditions for the motor vehicle manufacturing industry. It showed that the new vehicle market has recorded a recovery in the first half of 2021. However, performance is still eleven point seven percent below that recorded in the first half of 2019 before the pandemic. This rebound is linked to a recovery in global economic activity in 2021. Naamsa says the figures show that a full recovery will be prolonged until 2023. Mikel Mabasa the CEO of the National Association of Automobile Manufacturers of South Africa, discusses this.
