DoorDashers Went on Strike, to Protest Drop In Baseline Pay.
Known as Dashers, DoorDash drivers outlined for NPR News exactly why they went on strike.
Dashers want fair compensation for our time and efforts. We are what makes the company run but we're treated as disposable, DoorDasher on Strike, via NPR News.
According to Dashers, the lower end of the base
pay for a delivery dropped from $3 to $2.
As if a $3 base pay from DoorDash was not insulting enough, they've lowered it to $2, $2.25, $2.50, $2.75, Denise Small, Dasher and TikToker, via NPR News.
I've declined so many orders because they've been $2, Denise Small, Dasher and TikToker, via NPR News.
While drivers do keep 100 percent
of the their tips, the tip is not revealed
to the driver until an order is accepted.
I think it's ridiculous that DoorDash hides tips for orders. It's very common to get no tips, DoorDasher, via NPR News.
Dashers briefly made use of an app called Para,
which allowed them to see the tip before
they accepted an order.
Para is no longer compatible with the DoorDash fleet app.
I would say a lot of workers woke up when Para stopped working. Para showed that DoorDash is not as transparent as it could be, DoorDasher, via NPR News.
In a statement, DoorDash emphasized
privacy concerns related to the use of Para.
Para collects its information by scraping content without authorization from the DoorDash platform, DoorDash, Statement, via NPR News.
This is deeply concerning as we are committed to protecting the privacy and data security of every side of our marketplace and stakeholders, DoorDash, Statement, via NPR News.
DoorDash also referred to strikers
as "a vocal minority.".
The strike was in effect for the
entire day of July 31
